Krizan Strikes Again to Help Snap Ponies Skid
Harrisburg, PA – Jason Krizan’s go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning off of Trevor Rosenthal propelled the Ponies to a 7-5 win over the Harrisburg Senators at FNB Field Wednesday evening, snapping a season-long four-game losing streak.
Krizan hit an opposite field shot to left capping off a two-out rally against Rosenthal in which Luis Carpio hit a double and Krizan followed with his fifth homer of the year. The Ponies also got terrific relief pitching with Adonis Uceta who went two and two thirds scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit, getting the win to go to 3-2. Matt Blackham pitched two perfect frames in the eighth and ninth, earning his fourth save of the year. Blackham struck out four of the six batters he faced.
The two teams were tied at five over the first two innings, with both clubs scoring three runs in the first and two runs in the second. In the first the Ponies had RBI singles from Barrett Barnes and Ali Sanchez, with an RBI triple from David Thompson. In the second, the Ponies scored two on an error by Harrisburg third basemen Ian Sagdal. Carpio also had a strong night, finishing 3-5 with two runs scored.
