JUDGE IS BATTER OF THE WEEK

Judge Named Batter of the Week
Second Weekly Honor for 2016 RailRider

Moosic, Pa. – SWB RailRiders’ (Triple-A/New York Yankees) outfielder Aaron Judge was named International League Batter of the Week by the league office earlier today for June 20-26. He is the second RailRider to take a weekly honor in 2016. Sean O’Sullivan of the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) was named IL Pitcher of the Week.

Judge paced the circuit with seven extra‐base hits, 29 total bases, a 1.208 slugging percentage, and five home runs to go along with a .458 batting average and nine RBIs. He led the RailRiders to a 9‐2 win over Toledo on Tuesday with his first career two‐homer game, part of a four‐hit effort that included three RBIs. On Thursday he began a string of three consecutive games with a long ball, ending the week tied for the IL lead with 15 home runs for the season. Judge is also in the top five in the IL in RBIs, runs scored, slugging, total bases and extra‐base hits.

The RailRiders open a three-game series tonight in Syracuse against the Chiefs (Washington Nationals) at 6:35 p.m. SWB right-hander Chad Green (5-6, 1.67) is scheduled to face fellow righty Taylor Hill (3-6, 4.76).

The RailRiders return home for a seven-game homestand starting on the Fourth of July against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies). The game includes post-game fireworks presented by the PA Lottery; foam light-up sticks to the first 2,500 fans through the gates thanks to ShurSave Supermarkets; USA-themed jerseys worn by the RailRiders; and Fourth-of-July hats worn by the team that will be auctioned off during the game.
