Dutchess County Fair SporkRun

Rhinebeck NY - The Dutchess County Agricultural Society is pleased to announce the Inaugural Dutchess Fair SporkRun and Spork Award contests.  The two contests pit food vendors against each other to introduce the best new or unusual food item.  The contests will take place during the 171st Dutchess County Fair, August 23-28. Both contests are being dished up by Rhinebeck Bank, Poughkeepsie.
The SporkRun is a people’s choice contest where fair guests can vote for their favorite Spork entry on the Dutchess Fair app.  The Spork Award is a judged contest running Tuesday through Friday of the Fair.  Judges from Rhinebeck Bank, media sources and the Fairgrounds’ food committee will select the top Spork!  There are 35 entries for the two contests ranging from beverages, desserts, dinners and sides.  Entries will be highlighted on the Dutchess County Fairgrounds’ Facebook page.  As soon as the Dutchess Fair app’s new build is available, it can be downloaded and let the Spork fun begin!
“The enthusiasm for this new Fair contest is contagious and Rhinebeck Bank is pleased to be part of the energy,” said Michelle Barone-Lepore, VP Marketing of Rhinebeck Bank.  “The Bank and the Fairgrounds have been working on details for promoting this event and have come up with some great ideas for including the public.”
The inspiration for the SporkRun came from watching some of the food shows on TV.  “The Dutchess County Fair is known for being a Food Fair.  The Spork contests ratchet it up a notch,” Andy Imperati, the General Manager of the Fairgrounds said.  “The entries we have so far will keep Fairgoers busy with amazing new tastes – Spicy, Saucy, Sweet, and a multitude of mixed tastes! We are pretty pleased with our vendors rising to the occasion with their Spork entries.”
The Dutchess County Fair runs from August 23-28 at the fairgrounds in Rhinebeck.  The fairgrounds, owned and operated by the Dutchess County Agricultural Society, a private non-profit, has been the home to the annual Dutchess County Fair for the past 105 years.
