Yard Goats Strike Early, Blank Ponies In Series Opener
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies fell to the Hartford Yard Goats 7-0 Friday night at NYSEG Stadium in the series opener. The Rumble Ponies have now lost four straight games.
Vance Vizcaino belted the first pitch of the game over the right field wall to make it 1-0. The Yard Goats (26-28, 63-58) scored three more in both the second and fourth innings.
In the second, Vizcaino struck again with an RBI single. Three batters later, Colton Welker smacked a two-run single up the middle.
Two innings later, Tyler Nevin made it 5-0 with a sacrifice fly, and Welker hit a two-run home run off Tony Dibrell.
Dibrell (0-6) allowed seven runs on 11 hits over 3.2 innings. Hartford’s Matt Dennis went a season-high eight innings and struck out five, while giving up six hits and three walks.
Quinn Brodey went 4-4 and became the second Binghamton player to record four hits in one game, joining Jason Krizan. The Ponies (25-33, 60-62) left eight runners on base and were 0-9 with runners in scoring position.

POSTGAME NOTES: The Rumble Ponies have been shut out over the last 29.1 innings… Blake Taylor matched a season-high with 3.1 innings pitched as he did not allow a run and struck out three… Welker now has 50 RBI on the season after his four in this game.
