"Till We Meet Again"
How often we see and hear the verse."Till We Meet Again."
During the Celebration of Life memorial service July 19 held for the late Jean French Knickerbocker (October 13, 1922-February 21, 2019) the meaning of this popular verse took a new importance in people's lives who read what Jean Knickerbocker wrote before passing away to her new life in heaven.
This legendary golfer who passed away at her Florida home in February golfed everyday at either her home course (Twin Village Golf Club in Roscoe) or at her Florida Summertree Golf Course and when asked how many times a week she played golf Jean would say, "I play golf every day that ends with a Y," but that changed at Twin Village because she took Wednesday off to play Bridge.
Eulogies at Jean's Memorial Service held July 19 at the Roscoe United Church were offered by one of her sons, Tom Knickerbocker who spoke a lot about family life with his mom while another eulogy by former Twin Village Golf Club board of directors member and well known auto dealer Ralph Kirchner centered on Ralph's life while growing up with Jean as his Sunday School teacher and later on at Roscoe High School where Jean taught math and served as the school librarian.
Family and friends enjoyed fellowship (talking about the great memories with Jean) and food at the Court Yard Restaurant following the Celebration of Life service.
The beautiful departing message left by Jean prior to her passing at the age of 96 and one-quarter great years reads as follows:
"My time on earth has come to an end. Do not weep for me. I am free from pain, and I am with the family and friends who have gone to heaven before me. Remember the happy times, and the laughter, Always the Laughter. Remember all the love we shared. Miss me, but let me go. We all must make this journey and I am in a better place, for we know that the best is yet to be. If you are feeling sad, do a good deed in my memory and I will thank you from heaven and lift your pain and sadness. Sending my love to you, Til we meet again."
