Norfolk, VA (August 11, 2019) - The Syracuse Mets dropped the series finale to the Norfolk Tides, 3-0, on Sunday night. Arismendy Alcantara, Dilson Herrera, and Grégor Blanco all had two hits for Syracuse in the loss.
Norfolk (48-70) scored first in the bottom of the first inning. Christopher Bostick led off with a triple. Two batters later, Ryan Mountcastle singled to score Bostick for a 1-0 lead.
The Tides added to their lead in the third. Austin Hays picked up a one-out double and scored when Mountcastle followed with a double to give the Tides a 2-0 advantage.
Norfolk plated an insurance run in the sixth. With one out and runners at first and second base, Jack Reinheimer singled to score José Rondón, extending the Tides lead to 3-0.
Syracuse (59-60) loaded the bases in the top of the seventh with one out, but a strikeout and a fly out ended the scoring threat.
The Mets have an off day on Monday before beginning a six-day homestand on Tuesday with the first game of a three-game series against the Durham Bulls. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at NBT Bank Stadium.
