Kay’s Domination Power Ponies Past Senators
Harrisburg, PA – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (17-10) came from behind with a three-run eighth inning to beat the Harrisburg Senators (23-7) 3-1 on Tuesday Evening at FNB Field. The Ponies were trailing 1-0 heading into the frame before Shortstop Andres Gimenez led off the inning with a game-tying solo homer the opposite way to left, his second of the year. Binghamton than loaded the bases with one out, and Braxton Lee hit a go-ahead two-run single to give the Ponies a lead they would not relinquish.
Anthony Kay (3-2) led the way on the mound allowing only one run and four hits over 7, with just one walk and four strikeouts while only throwing 77 pitches. Kay, in the first game this season where Rumble Ponies pitchers could hit, also showed his prowess at the plate with a single in the seventh. The lefty has not allowed more than one run over his last four outings. Reliever Stephen Nogosek came in for Kay and pitched two perfect frames, getting his first save of the season. Drew Ward’s solo homer off of Kay in the sixth accounted for the Senators lone run.
Binghamton, now winners of seven of their last nine, continue their series in Harrisburg Wednesday night beginning at 6:30 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and streaming online on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizon Federal Credit Union Pregame Show begins at 6:15.
