Tim Tebow reacts in the Syracuse dugout to getting the silent treatment from his teammates after hitting his first career Triple-A home run (Danny Tripodi).
Syracuse, NY (May 19, 2019) - Tim Tebow hit his first Triple-A home run, but the Syracuse Mets fell to the Columbus Clippers, 8-2, on a sunny Sunday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium.
Syracuse (24-18) powered its way on the board in the bottom of the third, hitting the third pair of back-to-back home runs of the homestand. David Thompson and Tebow each homered, Thompson’s second of the year, and Tebow’s first career Triple-A home run. Thompson’s was pulled down the left-field line, and Tebow’s homer was to right field, cutting the Columbus lead in half, 4-2.
The Clippers were quick to answer though. Haase led off the top of the fourth with a solo home run of his own to bring the lead back to three, 5-2. Three batters later, with two outs, Allen hit his second home run of the season to push the Columbus lead to 6-2.
In the sixth, Thompson walked, Haase singled, and Eric Stamets walked to load the bases for the Clippers. Moroff then grounded into a double play at second, but Haase scored during the play for a 7-2 Columbus advantage.
The Clippers capped their scoring in the ninth. Moroff walked, and Allen singled. After a flyout, Ryan Flaherty singled through the right side to bring around Moroff for an 8-2 Columbus edge.
Syracuse is off on Monday before heading to Allentown, PA for the second time this season, opening a three-game series with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
