BATS EDGE SYRACUSE 3-1

ouisville, KY (May 7, 2019) - The Syracuse Mets opened their six-day road trip with a 3-1 loss to the Louisville Bats on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field. Carlos Gómez collected three hits in the game as he extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Louisville (14-18) started the scoring in the bottom of the second inning. Rob Refsnyder singled to left field with two outs. Juan Graterol followed with a triple to right field to give Louisville a 1-0 lead.

The Bats extended their lead in the fourth. Christian Colon was hit by a pitch to begin the inning. Colon moved to third on a Brian O'Grady single where O'Grady was thrown out between first and second base on the play. Colon scored on a Phillip Ervin double to left for a 2-0 lead. Two batters later, Refsnyder picked up his second hit of the game, a double to center field that scored Ervin and pushed the lead to 3-0.

Syracuse (17-14) scored its lone run in the seventh. Gómez homered to left field with one out to trim the deficit to two, 3-1. This is the third straight game that Gómez has hit a home run in.

The Mets and Bats continue their three-game series with the second game on Wednesday morning. LHP Héctor Santiago will be on the mound for Syracuse opposite RHP Keury Mella for Louisville. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m.
