PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (September 28, 2019) – Over 40,000 people from all over the United States and all over the world – including Sri Lanka, the Netherlands, Ireland, Australia, Brazil and Canada – enjoyed the very best in gospel music at the 62nd annual NQC, the National Quartet Convention.
This year's convention was presented by Christian Healthcare Ministries.
Approximately 100 hours of music, inspiring messages, and moving testimonies filled the halls of the LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge, TN over the past week.
The final day of NQC is always bittersweet – savoring the last moments but having to say goodbye to friends you may only see once a year.
This morning, Jim & Melissa Brady led worship for chapel, followed by a moving message from Dr. Tim Hill.
Always a highlight, Gerald Wolfe brought his Gospel Music Hymn Sing to NQC, this year in tribute to the hymns of Fanny Crosby.
Next up, it was the Booth Brothers 30th Anniversary Celebration & Reunion concert, thrilling the audience as they performed their classics and recent hits, with former members returning and Ronnie Booth, Sr. making a rae appearance.
This year brought a change to the NQC schedule, with the main stage concerts beginning at 2 PM.
Bill Bailey hosted the afternoon with performances by the Booth Brothers, Collingsworth Family, Erwins, Goodman Revival, Greater Vision, Hoppers, Jim & Melissa Brady, Karen Peck & New River, Kingdom Heirs, Legacy Five, Mark Trammell Qt., McKameys, Perrys, Tribute, Voices of Lee, and Whisnants.
Saturday's main stage highlights included:
- The final NQC performance from The McKameys, who are set to retire this November 2019
- The Erwins paying tribute to The McKameys singing one of their classic songs "I Made It By Grace" - sharing the story of the first big concert the Erwins sang on was with The McKameys and how they made an impact on their lives
- Powerful sets from Tribute Quartet, Jim & Melissa Brady, Legacy Five, Whisnants, Karen Peck & New River, Kingdom Heirs, Hoppers, Mark Trammell Quartet, Greater Vision, the Booth Brothers, and the Collingsworth Family
- For the finale, The Booth Brothers joined The Collingsworth Family for "Jesus Saves" and the encore of "Try A Little Kindness" sending out attendees in grand fashion
There's always been a strong tie of patriotism in Gospel music and tonight, the NQC paid honor to the USA with a special "Grand Finale" – I LOVE AMERICA – filled with patriotic songs. Special performances included: "God Bless America" by Melissa Brady, "God Bless The USA" by Joseph Habedank and the Erwins, as well as audience sing-alongs including "The National Anthem," "You're A Grand Ole Flag," and more.

NQC - the National Quartet Convention - was founded in 1957 by gospel music legend and former backup vocalist for Elvis Presley, J.D. Sumner who co-produced the event with James Blackwood. The annual convention was moved in later years to Nashville, TN and then to Louisville, KY where it was held for 20 years.
