RailRiders Hold off Red Wings for Series Win
Gleyber Torres Plates Two on Go-Ahead Double in Seventh


Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) bounced back for a 5-1 victory and a series win over the Rochester Red Wings on Wednesday afternoon at Frontier Field. The RailRiders (33-23) have won four-of-six against the Red Wings (26-28).

SWB plated three runs off Rochester’s David Hurlbut (3-4). The left-hander yielded eights hits and a walk, but struck out a career-best 11 hitters.

Clint Frazier doubled and scored on a single by Kyle Higashioka in the second inning for a 1-0 lead. The Red Wings managed to get an inherited runner across against reliever Tyler Jones (4-1) in the last of the sixth, but the right-hander rallied to throw 1.2 scoreless frames. Tyler Webb fired two innings of one-hit ball and struck three in notching his first save.

Tyler Wade sparked a two-out rally in the seventh on a single to left. Dustin Fowler then worked a walk to chase Hurlbut. Gleyber Torres then drove a two-run double into the left-field corner off reliever Trevor Hildenberger for a 3-1 lead.

The RailRiders padded the score with two runs in the ninth when Tyler Austin scored Fowler on a ground rule double and Torres scored from third on a wild pitch.

The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders begin a four-game series against the first-place Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia Phillies) on Thursday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Brady Lail (3-2, 5.36) gets the ball for SWB against right-hander Mark Appel (4-2, 6.14). For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
