RAILRIDERS LOSE TO PAWTUCKET 8-0

Ellsbury Doubles in RailRiders’ Loss
Jacoby Ellsbury Goes 1-for-3, Steals a Base in Rehab Appearance


Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) saw their seven-game winning streak against the Pawtucket Red Sox fall by the wayside in an 8-0 loss on Saturday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (45-29) had outscored their North Division rivals 60-29 before the defeat. The PawSox (35-37) held the RailRiders to two hits and snapped an eight-game skid overall.

Daniel Camarena (4-2) shouldered the loss in his first appearance back from the disabled list. The left-hander allowed four runs on five hits in 3.2 innings of work. He walked one and struck out four. Edgard Olmos (4-2) was elusive for Pawtucket. The southpaw worked around five walks to strike out seven over five scoreless.

Olmos took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before the rehabbing Jacoby Ellsbury doubled on a rocket to right-center. The two-bagger finished the night for Ellsbury, who went 1-for-3. He reached on fielder’s choice and stole second in the first. Ellsbury played all five innings in center field.

The PawSox scored four runs off Camarena, sending eight to the plate, in the second inning. Right-hander Brady Lail finished the game on 5.1 innings. He allowed four runs on six hits in his first relief appearance since 2015. Matt Dominguez highlighted a three-run eighth for Pawtucket by launching a two-run homer out to left.

The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders wrap up the homestand with the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) on Sunday, June 25. First pitch at PNC Field is set for 1:05 p.m. The RailRiders will start right-hander Bryan Mitchell (0-2, 4.50) against righty Shawn Haviland (3-5, 3.69). Sunday’s are Family FUNDay at PNC Field, presented by NEPA Honda Dealers!
