RailRiders Drop Finale to Red Wings
Tyler Wade Grabs Three Hits, Extends Streak to 14 Games

Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) surrendered four runs in the ninth and fell in the finale of a three-game series, 8-2, against the Rochester Red Wings on Thursday night at PNC Field. Despite the setback, the RailRiders  (37-26) have won all three sets against the Red Wings (29-32) this year.

Starter Bryan Mitchell (0-2) allowed three runs on five hits in the loss. He struck out four and walked one over his 3.2 innings. Aaron Slegers (5-4) labored through five innings on 94 pitches, but held SWB to a run on six hits. He walked a pair and fanned five.

Tyler Wade came away with three hits, including a ninth-inning double, to extend his hitting streak to 14 games. The stretch is the longest, active run in the International League. Wade scored both of the RailRiders’ runs. He crossed in the opening stanza on a single by Tyler Austin and raced home from third on a wild pitch in the seventh.

The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders hit the road for four games in three days against the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) beginning Friday, June 16. First pitch at Coca-Cola Field is set for 7:05 p.m. The boys of SWB return home on Monday, June 19, against the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals). Every Monday home game at PNC Field is Dollar Dog Night, presented by the Times-Tribune. For tickets or more information, please call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit swbrailriders.com.
