REYES GOE 1 FOR 2 WITH 2 WALKS


B-Mets Ride Zeid to 3-1 Win
BINGHAMTON, NY- Josh Zeid tossed seven shutout innings and the Binghamton Mets took the lead late in a 3-1 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats Sunday night at NYSEG Stadium. Jose Reyes went 1-for-2 with two walks and played nine innings defensively at third base. MLB rehabber Jim Henderson pitched the first inning and allowed one run on one hit with a walk and a strikeout.
With the game tied at one in the bottom of the seventh, Maikis De La Cruz led off with a walk. Kyle Johnson laid down a sacrifice bunt to move him to second before a Reyes groundout moved him to third. With L.J. Mazzilli batting, Tim Mayza spiked a wild pitch that allowed De La Cruz to sprint home and give the B-Mets a 2-1 lead.
New Hampshire struck first in the first against Henderson. Roemon Fields bunted for a single then stole second and third. Ryan Lavarnway then lofted a sacrifice fly to center that scored Fields put the Fisher Cats on top, 1-0.
Binghamton tied it up in the second as Jayce Boyd smacked a one-out double. He later scored on a De La Cruz single, evening the score at one.
From that point, Josh Zeid fell into a rhythm. He came on in the second for Henderson and held the Fisher Cats to two base hits over seven shutout innings. Zeid (2-2) struck out eight and retired nine of the last ten batters he faced to pick up the win.
The B-Mets tacked on another run in the eighth as Xorge Carrillo plated Dominic Smith with a sacrifice fly. David Roseboom worked a clean ninth for his first save of the season.
De La Cruz went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a run and a walk, Matt Oberste was 2-for-4 with a double and Boyd finished 1-for-2 with a double, a run and two walks.
Binghamton will begin a four-game series with the Hartford Yard Goats on Monday at 6:05 PM. The games will be played at NYSEG Stadium with the B-Mets acting as the visiting team. RHP Mickey Jannis starts game one against LHP Carlos Hernandez for the Yard Goats. The game will not be open to the public. POSTGAME NOTES: David Roseboom’s save was his first at Double-A and his first since June 20, 2015 with Savannah (Low-A)…The B-Mets did not homer in the game, snapping a streak of four straight games with a home run…Binghamton took a 6-5 season series lead over the Fisher Cats and split the six-game series, 3-3.
