B-METS WIN OVER BAYSOX 5-2

Pill, Rosario and Smith Star in 5-2 B-Mets Win
BINGHAMTON, NY- Amed Rosario was 2-for-4 with a triple, Dominic Smith went 2-for-3 with a homer and the Binghamton Mets defeated the Bowie Baysox, 5-2, Monday night at NYSEG Stadium. Tyler Pill earned his 23rd career win as a B-Met, tying him for the most in franchise history.
In the second, Matt Oberste and Victor Cruzado both singled. L.J. Mazzilli later chopped a grounder to right, scoring Oberste. Bowie right fielder Henry Urrutia airmailed his throw to third, an error that allowed Cruzado to score and give Binghamton a 2-0 lead.
The B-Mets extended their lead in the fourth as Smith belted a leadoff home run to right field. His team-leading 11th of the season extended the lead to 3-0.
Rosario led off the sixth inning with a double to right-center and moved to third when Smith singled. Oberste then lofted a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Rosario to make it 4-0.
Meanwhile, Pill was cruising. In seven innings, he allowed only one run on five hits and struck out five. Pill (7-8) earned the win and is now 23-14 all-time as a B-Met. He has tied Mark Cohoon for the most wins in B-Mets franchise history.
The only run that Bowie got against Pill came in the seventh as Drew Dosch tripled and scored on a single from Adrian Marin. The Baysox added one more in the eighth when Quincy Latimore singled in Chance Sisco to cut the lead to 4-2.
Binghamton earned an insurance run in the eighth, beginning with a leadoff triple from Rosario. Smith then launched a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Rosario to stretch the lead to 5-2.
Tim Peterson allowed one run on one hit and struck out three while recording the final six outs to earn his first career Double-A save.
Rosario went 2-for-4 with a triple, a double and two runs scored, Smith was 2-for-3 with a homer and two RBI and Oberste finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.
Game two of the three-game series is scheduled for 6:35 PM on Tuesday. RHP Tyler Pill will make the start for the B-Mets against LHP Jayson Aquino for the Baysox. POSTGAME NOTES: Amed Rosario now has hits in 20 of his 21 games as a B-Met and is batting .410 during an active ten-game hitting streak…Tim Peterson’s save was his first May 23 at Daytona while pitching for St. Lucie (High-A)…Dominic Smith pushed his team leading RBI total to 65, fourth most in the Eastern League.
