RailRiders Roast IronPigs Behind Cave’s Career Night
Outfielder Records First Two-Homer Game, Tallies Career-Best Five RBI


Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) walloped the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs 8-1 on Saturday night at PNC Field behind a strong showing from Jake Cave. The RailRiders (55-33) improved to 7-6 against the Ironpigs (54-35) this season and secured sole possession of first place in the International League North heading into the All-Star Break.

Nick Rumbelow (2-0) took home the win in relief. The right-hander blanked the IronPigs for 2.2 innings. He walked two and struck out a pair. Cesar Ramos (4-4) was hit for four runs on five hits over four innings in the loss. He walked three and struck out four.

Cave’s night began with a run-scoring double to tie the game 1-1 in the second. Cave put the RailRiders up 5-1 in the sixth on a solo shot off the RailHouse roof beyond right field and polished off his three-hit performance with a three-run moonshot over the retired numbers in left-center. The outfielder notched his first two-homer game and drove in a career-high five runs. He also walked and stole a base.

Cito Culver launched a deep sacrifice fly to left that scored Miguel Andujar for a 2-1 lead in the second. Andujar later belted a two-run homer out to left in the third inning, his second at Triple-A.

The RailRiders started Brady Lail, who went four frames. He yielded a solo homer as part of three hits while walking two with four strikeouts. Tyler Jones finished the game with a scoreless 2.1 innings and five strikeouts.
