Tyler Wade Homers, Matches Career-High with Four RBIs
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) boomed three home runs and steamrolled the Charlotte Knights 13-2 on Thursday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (62-35) have won 13-of-16 and are 7-1 since the All-Star break. The Knights (40-57) have lost five straight.
SWB batted around while scoring five runs in an inning twice. Tyler Wade highlighted a five-run second inning with a bases-loaded triple to right-center that gave the RailRiders a 4-1 lead. He scored on a single to center by Donovan Solano. Wade thundered his sixth homer of the year out to right in the fifth. His 4RBIs matched a career-high.
Dietrich Enns (1-1) fired seven strong innings for his first winning decision of 2017. The southpaw held the Knights to two runs, one earned, on six hits while striking out seven over seven frames. Lucas Giolito (3-9) was hit for five runs, all earned, on five hits in the loss. The right-hander was lifted after 1.2 innings. He walked three and fanned three.
Up 5-2, the RailRiders turned the game into a rout with their second five-spot in the fourth. The frame was highlighted by a three-run homer to left-center off the bat of Cito Culver. Culver’s ninth round-tripper of the season matched a career-best that was set in 2013.
Eddy Rodriguez polished the scoring by going opposite way to right for his sixth homer of the year. The two-run blast scored Mark Payton in the sixth inning. Payton finished 2-for-3 with two walks. Solano came home with three hits, including a double, and an RBI.
The 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Champion RailRiders continue their home series with the Charlotte Knights (Chicago White Sox) on Friday, July 21 at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Chance Adams (6-3, 2.45) will face right-hander Reynaldo Lopez (6-5, 3.78).
