SULLIVAN WEST WINS THIRD GAME WITH TV

GRAHAMSVILLE--The Sullivan West varsity girls softball team continued their domination over Tri-Valley Wednesday afternoon winning a close 7-6 game for a clean undefeated sweep of the Division IX Class C championship.
The Bulldogs won all three of the division league games against Tri-Valley.
Sullivan West coach Mike Ellmauer put the overall game in perspective when he said, "neither team brought their gloves to this game as the Bulldogs committed 10 errors and Tri-Valley four miscues.

Izzy Nearing got the win for Sullivan West allowing six runs off eight hits while recording five strikeouts.  Tri-Valley's Kacie Alliison took the loss giving up seven runs off six hits and striking out nine.

Walks hurt Allison as she gave up six base on balls.
The game saw the score see-saw back and forth as the Bulldogs put two  on the scoreboard in the first inning only to see Tri-Valley score three runs in the bottom of the second.

Sullivan West added one run in the the top of the third and the Bears added one in the bottom of the fourth to take a temporary 4-3 lead.

Sullivan West tied the game in the top of the fifth, 4-4 but the Bears pushed across two runs in the bottom of the same inning to take a 6-4 lead.

Coach Ellmauer noted "we woke up in the sixth inning" as his team put two runs across netting the score at  6-6 and in the  top of the seventh the winning run was put together with Kelsey Farrell hitting a single to left field and she quickly took second on a passed ball. Farrell took third base and scored the winning run on a hit to  center field by  Izzy Nearing.

Sullivan West coach Ellmauer said he did not know who they would  be playing in the sectionals as the pairings were to be announced  last night.
Tri-Valley will miss sectional play for the first time in three years.

When asked about this win Ellmauer noted "this third game between our two teams started out very slow for us with both teams playing hard and we tried some new things tonight that hopefully will help us in the playoffs."
Leading the offense for Sullvian West was Josephine Martinez with two hits and two RBI's.
Lexie Kloss had three hits and one RBI for the Bears. Kacie Allison added two hits and an RBI for Tri-Valley.

Tri-Valley coach Claire Moore noted that "overall this was one of our most competitive games where we wanted to come back and they wanted to make the plays and we wanted to put the ball in play."
"Unfortunately we did not have very many successful bunts but we definitely were motivated throughout the game," Moore said.

"Errors cost us," Coach Moore pointed out.

Ceremonies took place immediately following the game honoring four Tri-Valley seniors, Kacie Allison, Nicole Beach, Taylor Pavese and Mikayla Coddington.
