RAILLRIDERS WIN 10TH STRAIGHT AT PNC FIELD

RailRiders Win 10th Straight at PNC Field
Ben Gamel’s Ninth-Inning Sacrifice Fly Downs IronPigs

Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) earned their seventh walk-off win at PNC Field on Ben Gamel’s ninth-inning sacrifice fly Tuesday night. The RailRiders’ 3-2 win over the Lehigh Valley IronPigs extended their home winning streak to 10 games, the longest since 2007. The RailRiders (73-43) have won six overall and three straight against the IronPigs (70-46).

Jonathan Holder (1-0) took home his first Triple-A victory after hurling a scoreless top of the ninth. Dalier Hinojosa (1-1) shouldered the defeat after allowing a run on one hit and a walk.

SWB opened the scoring in the first frame. Clint Frazier tripled to the right-center gap and scored on a single to left by Aaron Judge. Starter Chad Green allowed two runs on six hits over five innings in his first outing with SWB since July 14. A solo shot by Cam Perkins in the second inning snapped Green’s Triple-A scoreless innings streak at 26.

Tied 1-1 in the fifth, the IronPigs took their only lead when Logan Moore doubled to left and scored on a single by J.P. Crawford. The RailRiders rallied to tie the game in the home half of the sixth. Judge worked a leadoff walk and moved to third on a double to left-center by Tyler Austin. A Donovan Solano sacrifice fly to right plated Judge to even the score, 2-2-2.

In the last of the ninth, Kyle Higashioka drew a one-out walk. An errant pickoff throw advanced Higashioka to second, where he was lifted for pinch runner Cesar Puello. Puello then advanced to third on a sinking line drive to center by Pete Kozma that popped free of a diving Perkins. With the infield in and outfield shallow, Gamel lined out to Nick Williams, but Puello beat the throw home to win the game.

The finish marked the third time the RailRiders have walked off the IronPigs in 2016.

The RailRiders seek a series victory against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs on Wednesday night at PNC Field. Left-hander Dietrich Enns (5-2, 1.35) opposes right-hander David Buchanan (8-6, 3.82).
