B-METS DEFEAT HARTFORD 9-2

Cruzado, Oberste Vault B-Mets to 9-2 Win
BINGHAMTON, NY- Matt Oberste went 2-for-3 with a triple and Victor Cruzado was 3-for-5 with three RBI as the Binghamton Mets defeated the Hartford Yard Goats, 9-2, Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets earned the series victory while playing as the road team in a game that was closed to the public.
Hartford struck first in the second as Correlle Prime walked and was moved to second on a sacrifice bunt. Wilson Soriano then smacked a two-out single to left, scoring Prime for the first run of the game.
The B-Mets countered in the top of the fourth with Dominic Smith reaching on a two-base error to lead off. Oberste then tripled to right-center, scoring Smith from second to tie the game. Cruzado followed with an infield single that scored Oberste and Binghamton took a 2-1 lead.
Prime led off the bottom of the fourth with a single and again was sacrificed to second. Soriano once again drove a ball to left, this time a double that scored Prime to tie the game a two.
The B-Mets regained the lead in the sixth as Cruzado smacked a one-out single and scored on a Xorge Carrillo double. In the seventh, Smith lifted a two-out single to left then took third on an Oberste single. Cruzado scored them both with a double down the left field line, extending the Binghamton advantage to 5-2.
Binghamton added to that lead with a four spot in the ninth. Jayce Boyd worked a bases-loaded walk, Carrillo doubled in two and Amed Rosario knocked in Boyd with a sacrifice fly, making it 9-2.
Smith was 2-for-5 with three runs, Oberste went 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, three runs and two walks, and Cruzado went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI.
Kevin McGowan (4-0) picked up the win with one run allowed on two hits in two innings of relief.
Binghamton will take Monday off before beginning a three-game series with the Reading Fightin Phils on Tuesday. RHP Tyler Herron makes the start for the B-Mets against RHP Thomas Eshelman for Reading. POSTGAME NOTES: Matt Oberste’s triple was his first of the season and his first since August 29, 2015 while playing with St. Lucie against Palm Beach…David Roseboom worked a 1-2-3 ninth and has 13 consecutive scoreless appearances (14.1 IP)
