RAIN TROUBLES RAILRIDERS AGAIN
RailRiders resume suspended game; Suspended for second night in a row
 
MOOSIC, Pa. (July 25, 2018) – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders resumed their game with the Charlotte Knights tonight at PNC Field, but after 10 outs were recorded, they were once again suspended due to weather.
 
Play picked up in the bottom of the third with two outs and a runner on first. Tyler Danish started on the bump for Charlotte and Raynel Espinal took the mound for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Mike Ford singled and then Shane Robinson popped out to second to end the inning. In the top of the fourth Patrick Leonard hit a solo shot to the berm in right-centerfield give Charlotte a 3-1 lead.
 
Abiatal Avelino led off the bottom of the fifth with a bunt single and advanced to second on an overthrow by Charlotte pitcher Tyler Danish. Avelino then moved to third on a past ball during a plate appearance when Mark Payton walked. Immediately following Ball Four the game was then suspended due to rain.
 
The RailRiders and Knights will their game Thursday from the point they left off in the bottom of the fifth inning. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. and gates will open at 11:00 a.m. They will then play a seven-inning game after the completion of the suspended game. LHP Stephen Tarpley (1-0, 1.74) will take the hill in the resumption of Game One Thursday morning for the RailRiders. RHP Erik Swanson (1-1, 4.54) takes the ball in Game Two opposite RHP Michael Kopech (3-7, 4.29) for the Knights.

Because of the suspensions and weather, only two of the three scheduled games will be able to be played-- one of the three between Charlotte and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will be canceled. For tickets and more information, call (570) 969-BALL or slide to
