Not a Grand Time: Buffalo’s slam decides series-opener in 5-1 SWB loss
Shane Robinson picks up two of the four hits in the losing effort by the RailRiders

BUFFALO, N.Y. (May 18, 2018) – The game was moving right along for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders starting pitcher Daniel Camarena into the fourth inning, but the first three men reached base and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. connected on a grand slam for the deciding blow in the Buffalo Bisons 5-1 win.

Buffalo’s starting pitcher, Ryan Borucki, was dominant against the RailRiders lineup in a winning effort. Over seven innings he scattered three hits and struck out six.

In back of Camarena, the bullpen was excellent for the RailRiders. Joe Harvey came in and struck out a pair over 1.1 innings and Giovanny Gallegos struck out five in 2.0 innings of work.

SWB scored a run in the 9th inning after getting a lead-off triple by Shane Robinson who scored one batter later when Kyle Higashioka reached on an error by third baseman Tim Lopes, but Higashioka was credited with an RBI regardless. The lone hits in the game for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre came from Robinson (2-for-4, 3B, R), Erik Kratz (1-for-3) and Rey Navarro (1-for-3).

The win snapped a three-game winning streak for the RailRiders and pushed them back to a game under .500 at 19-20 on the season.

The RailRiders and Bisons continue their three-game series at Coca-Cola Field Saturday afternoon with a 1:05 p.m. scheduled first pitch. RHP Brody Koerner (1-1, 4.20) gets the ball against RHP Justin Dillon (0-1, 0.00) for Buffalo. Pregame coverage begins at 12:35 p.m. with Adam Marco and Adam Giardino.
