PONIES MAKE A WISH COME TRUE

Rumble Ponies Help Make-A-Wish Come True
BINGHAMTON, NY – Make-A-Wish® Central New York, with the help of the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and their dedicated fans, surprised 13-year-old Madelyn “Maddie” Shaw, of Binghamton, on Wednesday as part of “We Care Wednesday” at NYSEG stadium. Prior to the first pitch of the game, the Rumble Ponies revealed Shaw had her wish granted of going on family vacation to the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana.
Maddie attended the evening under the auspices of supporting “A Room to Heal” – a Broome County nonprofit that strives to create healing environments for local kids affected by serious medical conditions. Just before the start of the game, Rumble Ponies staff guided her and her parents, Amy and Kevin Shaw, onto the field where Maddie was named “Honorary Play Ball Kid of the Game.”  She was asked to look at the scoreboard and get the game started by saying “Play Ball!”  As she did, the scoreboard lit up, letting her know her wish to go to the Nickelodeon Resort in Punta Cana will soon be coming true.
Maddie has battled Ewing’s Sarcoma, a form of cancer that grows in bone or soft tissue around bones, for several years. This summer, Maddie and her family will get to enjoy a very special week at the five-star Punta Cana luxury resort, which features a water park, open air theater, gift shops and lots of favorite Nickelodeon characters, including SpongeBob SquarePants, Dora the Explorer, the Fairly Odd Parents, and Paw Patrol, among others.
Maddie’s wish is one of 134 wishes Make-A-Wish Central New York has in progress for kids with critical illnesses throughout its 15-county region. About 25 of these wishes are for kids between the ages of 2 ½ and 18 living in the Southern Tier.
