Tri-Valley Winter Concert

PROFESSIONAL & STUDENTS JOIN H.S. CONCERT

The director and students from the Music Institute of Sullivan and Ulster County (MISU) joined the Tri-Valley Central School winter concert chorus December 19 in the Gustav Holst popular rendition of "Christmas Day" presented in the schools' Bernstein Theatre.
In the opening song for the Secondary School 9-12 Winter Concert  chorus, under the direction of Kevin J. Giroux, they were joined by professional director and MISU founder of the string instrumental group, Anastasia Solberg who plays the viola and students Vitalis Im and Autumn Mason on Violin and Ms. Solberg's son Aaron Cush Solberg on Cello.
The addition of the various orchestral interludes added a delightful touch to the well known Choral Fantasy on Old Carols including "God Rest Ye Merry Genglemen," "The First Nowell." "Come Ye Lofty; Come Ye Lonely," and "Good Christian Men Rejoice."
Soloists singing parts of the "Christmas Day" song included Tiffani Foncree, Aiden Woolsey and Ashley Exner.
The original "Christmas Day" song was written in 1910.
The 9-12 chorus also entertained the holiday audience singing "Where Earth Meets the Sky" by Z. Randall Stroope and "Hole Me, Rock Me" by Brian Tate.
The Christmas-Holiday concert theme was continued by Band Director Matthew Weyant in the bands presentations of "Ding Dong..Merrily on High" by French Carol and arranged by James D. Ployhar.
Three other Band arrangements included "Synergies" by Robert Sheldon, "Into the Storm" by Robert Smith and "Fire Dance" by Elliot Del Borgo.
Announcements for future musical events at Tri-Valley included the All-County Festival on February 28 and March 1.
