Bowling Highlights 12-20-13

 XBowling Brings Future To Industry

The newest concept in the sport of Bowling is XBowling where you can bowl, have fun and win prizes on your Android phone.
Brunswick Bowling and the Sports Challenge Network (SCN) has just announced that their companies have reached an agreement to work together to bring next generation social mobile gaming technology to Brunswick's bowling center customers worldwide.
Brunswick and SCN are providing access to the XBowling platform at no incremental cost to the bowling centers and no fees for installation, training, marketing, technical support and  maintenance.
XBowling is a socail mobile application that offers bowlers an opportunity to engage in new types of gaming experiences at bowling centers with players competing against each other in live head-to-head challenges while bowling in the same center or multiple centers.
Bowlers will also be able to compete against games previously bowled and posted on the XBowling network and they can also enter solo challenges such as XBowl Mania, Lotto Bowl or Beat Your Average.
XBowling also offers players the opportunity to win points every time they play through gameplay, skill and social interactions, allowing them to build their XBowling leaderboard status and redeem accumulated points for merchandise and sports gear through the App or the web.
Brunswick's president Brent Perrier noted that, "XBowling helps bring the future to the bowling industry," and that the gaming experience provides a new level of entertainment to bowlers.
Timothy J. Minard, founder and CEO of SCN said the partnership, "will enhance the bowling experience for all ages and skill levels."
XBowling is currently available on Apple IoS and Google Android devices via free downloads from the App store and Google Play.

                                                           Ed's Outlook

There are some needed changes in the televised Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Sunday afternoon telecasts.
Hearing many bowlers complain about the "blind bowling" and other trick shot contests as being a complete waste of time......we agree.
What the PBA should have done was have a five-bowler stepladder final instead of having bowling fans sit through these stupid contests that are meaningless  before the championship match is played.
Don't know what these folks at the PBA are thinking about.

                                                      Section PBA Title

Cheektowaga New York's Ryan Ciminelli had the left side of the lane all to himself last Sunday afternoon as he defeated Dom Barrett, 258-203 to win the Professional Bowlers Association Chameleon Championship at the third World Series of Bowling V event in Las Vegas.
Starting in the fourth position Ryan reached the championship round by defeating Tom Smallwood 255-197 and Brian Kretzer  235-179.
This Sunday's 1 p.m. ESPN  Scorpion Championship finals will feature Marshall Kent,  Tom Smallwood, Josh Blanchard and Tommy Jones.

                                                              Bowling Tip
                                                            By Mike Luongo

Bowlers: This weeks tip will help you execute and repeat good shots by having your body set properly so that you can use the laws of physics to roll the ball and eliminate tension in your swing.
As I've mentioned in previous columns, too much upper body movement makes it velry difficult to repeat shots.
The purpose of the stance is to place the body in an athletic position, eliminate all unnecessary movements during the approach and reduce tension.
Resting forearms against the body, in the stance, will help reduce tension in the upper body.
  How do we do this?
Here are the four steps in the proper order for setting posture.
  1. Set the feet (toward your break point).
  2. Set your head (tilted over the ball).
  3. Set your posterior (this is your balance point as you are swinging a heavy object).
  4. Set the ball position close as noted above
You are now in position to start a smooth approach. Maintain your body position and let the ball swing under your shoulder. You may find this easy to repeat shot after shot.
Tension will not be eliminated if your ball does not fit.
