SMITH NAMED TO ALL-STAR GAME

Smith Named to All-Star Futures Game
BINGHAMTON, NY – Binghamton Mets first baseman Dominic Smith will play for the US Team at the 2016 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 10 at PETCO Park in San Diego. Smith is the ninth B-Met to be included in the game in the last six years.
The Futures Game, entering his 18th year in existence, puts the top prospects in the game on the national stage during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week festivities.
Smith, 21, is batting .259 across 71 games in his first season at Double-A. The Mets first pick in the 2013 draft has belted two home runs in his last four games and has matched a career-high with six long balls this season. Smith leads the B-Mets and ranks fifth in the Eastern League with 48 RBI. He will be making his first career appearance in the Futures Game.
Former B-Met Dilson Herrera was named to the World Team. Curtis Pride, a former B-Met and member of the Binghamton Baseball Shrine, will serve as a coach for the World Team.
The B-Mets have had at least one representative at the Future Games in each of the last six seasons: Michael Conforto & Brandon Nimmo (2015), Kevin Plawecki (2014), Noah Syndergaard & Rafael Montero (2013), Zack Wheeler & Wilmer Flores (2012), and Matt Harvey (2011).
Riding a four-game winning streak, Binghamton (32-42) continues a three-game series against the Altoona Curve on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field.
Fans can purchase tickets for the B-Mets upcoming homestand by stopping by the NYSEG Stadium box office, calling 723-METS or by visiting BMETS.COM.
