Chad Green Leads Shutout of Mud Hens
Right-hander Fans Nine over Seven Two-Hit Frames
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) earned their league-best 12th shutout with a 1-0 victory over
the Toledo Mud Hens. The RailRiders (43-30) have won four straight overall and five-of-six against the Mud Hens (30-41).
Chad Green
(5-6) weaved together seven two-hit innings
and struck out nine to earn the victory. The right-hander retired
21-of-22 faced, including the final 13 straight.
Conor Mullee struck out two in a perfect ninth to notch his fifth save.
The game’s only tally came in the bottom of the seventh courtesy of a home run to left by
Tyler Austin. The shot off reliever Preston Guilmet (2-1) was his third with SWB.
Mark Teixeira
continued his rehab assignment as designated
hitter. The New York Yankees’ first baseman finished 1-for-2 with a
single and a walk.
The RailRiders look for the
series sweep of the Toledo Mud Hens at PNC Field on Thursday, June 23.
