Aaron Judge Reaches Safely Four Times
Moosic, Pa. –
The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) tied their season-high
for runs in a game by beating the Columbus
Clippers 10-3 on Friday night at PNC Field. The win gives the
RailRiders (31-24) the best record in the International League by a
half-game over the Clippers (30-24).
Luis Severino
made his first start of the year with SWB and
cruised through three perfect innings on 37 pitches. However, the
right-hander departed after allowing three runs on two hits and three
walks in the fourth.
Diego Moreno (3-1) took home the win by holding Columbus scoreless for 2.1 innings.
Anthony Swarzak held Columbus to one base runner over the final three innings for his seventh save.
The RailRiders scored eight runs in the first three innings off Clippers’ starter T.J. House (4-3). A two-out single by
Pete Kozma and a double from
Jonathan Diaz gave the RailRiders a 2-0 lead in the second.
Aaron Judge
sparked a six-run rally in the third by thundering a double to center.
Nick Swisher followed with a single and
Donovan Solano reached on an error that allowed Judge to score.
Jake Cave doubled home Swisher for a 4-0 advantage and
Kyle Higashioka plated two more with a two-baser to
left. Higashioka raced home when Diaz reached on a fielding error by
Giovanny Urshela at third. Gamel capped the inning with a double to
left-center, plating Diaz,
for an 8-0 lead.
SWB
kept their 8-3 cushion into the sixth. Gamel and Judge teamed for
consecutive doubles to make 9-3 and Solano’s single brought in Judge for
the final margin.
The RaiRiders finished the night with seven extra-base hits and were 7-for-19 with men in scoring position.
SWB and Columbus continue their set on Saturday afternoon at 4:05 p.m. Right-hander
Brady Lail (2-1, 2.93) opposes right-hander Mike
Clevinger (5-0, 3.03). The first 2,500 fans receive a RailRiders
headphones giveaway and the team will wear purple jerseys for
Alzheimer’s awareness. The “Legends Series”
continues with special appearances by Bucky Dent, Chris Chambliss and
