CURVE CRUIISE TO 9-6 WIN OVER B-METS

Dirty Dozen Does in B-Mets, 9-6
BINGHAMTON, NY- The Altoona Curve smacked 12 hits and cruised to a 9-6 win over the Binghamton Mets Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. The B-Mets suffered their sixth straight loss and were swept for the second consecutive series.
Binghamton struck first in the bottom of the first as Derrik Gibson led off with a single. L.J. Mazzilli then smacked a double off the wall in right, scoring Gibson from first to give the B-Mets a 1-0 lead.
Altoona answered in the third thanks to some defensive miscues from the B-Mets. Kevin Newman reached on a throwing error charged to Phillip Evans. He later scored on a wild pitch, tying the game at one.
The Curve expanded their lead in the fourth as Stetson Allie drove in Jose Osuna with a single to right. A Barrett Barnes groundout scored Jin De Jhang then Altoona’s starting pitcher Cody Dickson smacked a single to right center, scoring Allie. They added one more in the fifth as Osuna singled in Erich Weiss to make it 5-1.
Binghamton cut into the lead in the bottom of the fifth with three. Matt Oberste cracked a pinch-hit single that allowed Colton Plaia to score, Gibson drove in Maikis De La Cruz and Oberste scored on a Mazzilli groundout, drawing Binghamton within one at 5-4.
It was as close as the B-Mets would get as Altoona scored one in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth to expand its lead to 9-4.
Binghamton got a pair back in the ninth as Plaia doubled and scored on a De La Cruz groundout. Amed Rosario then lined a pinch-hit double down the left field line and scored on a Gibson single to cut the deficit to 9-6.
Josh Zeid (1-2) allowed five runs on six hits and four walks in five innings for the loss. Dickson (6-3) walked four and allowed seven hits with four runs over six innings and picked up the win.
Gibson finished 4-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored and Mazzilli went 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI.  
The B-Mets will begin a three-game series with Richmond on Friday at 7:05 PM. RHP Mickey Jannis will start for Binghamton against RHP Kyle Crick for the Curve. POSTGAME NOTES: Amed Rosario recorded a pinch-hit double in the ninth, his first Double-A at bat this season...The B-mets scored over three runs for the first time in their past ten games…Derrik Gibson recorded his third four-hit game and the fifth of Binghamton’s season.
