Brady Lail Sets New Triple-A Career Best with Eight Strikeouts
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) dropped a 3-2 decision to the Charlotte Knights on Thursday
night at PNC Field. The RailRiders (33-28) settle for a split of the four-game series with the Knights (31-31).
Brady Lail
(2-2) shouldered a tough loss despite striking
out a Triple-A career-high eight batters. He allowed three runs, all in
the third inning, on six hits across six innings. It was his fifth
quality start in
seven outings with SWB. Chris Volstad (5-4) limited the RailRiders to
two runs on six hits through seven innings.
The
Knights grabbed the advantage in the third on a two-run double to
left-center by Danny Haynes. Nicky Delmonico lifted a sacrifice fly to
right, scoring Hayes from
third.
Donovan Solano
provided the only runs for SWB In the home half of the third.
Kyle Higashioka led off with a double and
Ben Gamel worked a walk. Solano slammed a two-out double to the right field corner, trimming the deficit to one.
The RailRiders had chances late, but stranded the tying run in scoring position twice over the final four innings.
Solano finished the night with three hits.
Aaron Judge extended his hitting streak to seven with a sixth-inning single.
The RailRiders open a series against the Columbus Clippers at Huntington Park on Friday night at 7:15 p.m. Right-hander
Luis Cessa (0-1, 4.18) starts for SWB against
left-hander Ryan Merritt (4-4, 2.64). The RailRiders return home to host
the Gwinnett Braves for “Glow in the Park Night” on Friday, June 17, at
