B-Mets Defeat Yankees 3-2

Carrillo’s Walk-Off Single Lifts B-Mets to 3-2 Win
BINGHAMTON, NY –Xorge Carrillo smacked a walk-off single down the third base line in the bottom of the 12th inning and the Binghamton Mets defeated the Trenton Thunder, 3-2, Thursday night at NYSEG Stadium. The win gave Binghamton its third straight series victory.
Victor Cruzado led off the 12th by working an 11-pitch walk against Cale Coshow. Matt Oberste then singled and the Thunder elected to intentionally walk L.J. Mazzilli to load the bases for Carrillo. He shot a grounder down the third base line, off the glove of Billy Fleming, sending Cruzado home for the game winning run.
Trenton struck first in the first inning. Dustin Fowler smacked a solo homer to right field, giving the Thunder a 1-0 lead.
Tyler Pill retired the next 11 batters he faced, a streak broken with a leadoff walk to Lane Adams in the fifth. Adams took second on a groundout and moved to third on a Michael O’Neill single. He then scored when Sebastian Valle grounded out, pushing the Trenton lead to 2-0.
The B-Mets finally got on the board in the seventh inning. Derrik Gibson led off with a single, Phillip Evans singled and Jayce Boyd walked to load the bases. Dominic Smith then launched a sacrifice fly to the wall in center field, allowing Gibson to tag and score from third. Evans later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at two.
Pill struck out five over 7.2 innings of two-run ball with three hits allowed. Jordan Montgomery held the B-Mets to two runs on three hits in 6.1 innings. Both men received no-decisions.
Tim Peterson (1-5) picked up the win with a pair of strikeouts in a scoreless 12th inning. Coshow (1-5) was the loser after failing to record an out in the bottom half.
Evans was 1-for-5 with a run and extended his hitting streak to nine games. Carrillo finished 2-for-5 with a pair of singles and the game-winning RBI.
