Taylor Headed to All-Star Game
BINGHAMTON,
NY – Infielder Matt Oberste, starting pitcher Tyler Pill and reliever Logan
Taylor will represent the Binghamton Mets at the 2016 Eastern League All-Star
Game in Akron, OH on Wednesday, July 13. It is the first Mid-Season All-Star
honors for all three players.Oberste, 24, enjoys his first career Mid-Season All-Star selection after being picked by the Mets in the 7th round of the 2013 draft out of the University of Oklahoma. In his first season at Double-A, the Oklahoma native leads the team with a .284 batting average and shares the clubhouse lead with 15 doubles. Oberste has split his time at designated hitter (28 games), third base (19) and first base (14).
Pill, 26, receives his first career All-Star nod in his sixth professional season. The fourth-round pick out of Cal State-Fullerton in 2011 leads the B-Mets starting rotation in ERA (3.80). The dependable righty leads the Eastern League with 94-2/3 innings pitched and sits fourth in the league with 77 strikeouts. Pill matched a career-high by throwing eight innings in his last start on June 26 against Richmond.
Taylor, 24, makes his first career All-Star team in his second full season back from elbow surgery. Since transitioning into a full-time reliever this season, the righty has compiled a 12.1 K/9 IP, the third-best among Eastern League relievers. The Oklahoma native was selected by the Mets in the 11th round in 2012 out of Eastern Oklahoma State Junior College.
