Judge Named Batter of the Week
Second Weekly Honor for 2016 RailRider
Moosic, Pa. – SWB RailRiders’ (Triple-A/New York Yankees) outfielder
Aaron Judge was named International League Batter of the Week by
the league office earlier today for June 20-26. He is the second
RailRider to take a weekly honor in 2016. Sean O’Sullivan of the
Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) was named IL Pitcher
of the Week.
Judge paced the
circuit with seven extra‐base hits, 29 total bases, a 1.208 slugging
percentage, and five home runs to go along with a .458 batting average
and nine RBIs. He led the RailRiders to a 9‐2 win over
Toledo on Tuesday with his first career two‐homer game, part of a
four‐hit effort that included three RBIs. On Thursday he began a string
of three consecutive games with a long ball, ending the week tied for
the IL lead with 15 home runs for the season. Judge
is also in the top five in the IL in RBIs, runs scored, slugging, total
bases and extra‐base hits.
The RailRiders
open a three-game series tonight in Syracuse against the Chiefs
(Washington Nationals) at 6:35 p.m. SWB right-hander
Chad Green (5-6, 1.67) is scheduled to face fellow righty Taylor Hill (3-6, 4.76).
The
RailRiders return home for a seven-game homestand starting on the
Fourth of July against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (Philadelphia
Phillies). The game includes post-game fireworks
presented by the PA Lottery; foam light-up sticks to the first 2,500
fans through the gates thanks to ShurSave Supermarkets; USA-themed
jerseys worn by the RailRiders; and Fourth-of-July hats worn by the team
