RailRiders Drop Finale to Mud Hens
Aaron Judge Launches 13th Homer
Moosic, Pa. – The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/ New York Yankees) saw their four-game winning streak halted by a 4-3 setback to
the Toledo Mud Hens on Thursday night. The RailRiders (43-31) finished 5-2 in the season series against the Mud Hens (31-41).
Kyle Haynes
(1-3) allowed four runs, three earned, on six
hits across 4.2 innings in the loss. The right-hander walked three and
whiffed two. Matt Boyd (2-3) earned the win by limiting SWB to a pair of
runs on four
hits over five innings and Bobby Parnell grabbed his fifth save with a
perfect ninth.
Toledo staked a first-inning advantage when Anthony Gose tripled to right and scored on a groundout by Casey McGehee.
Aaron Judge quickly countered in the home half of the
opening stanza by thundering a home run out to right-center. The solo
shot was his 13th of the year to tie Toledo’s Steven Moya for third most
in the International
League. It was also his sixth in 11 games.
The
Mud Hens reclaimed the lead in the second. Jordany Valdespin singled,
stole second and moved to third on a throwing error by catcher
Gary Sanchez. A flyball to deep right by Dean Green scored Valdespin.
Trailing 2-1, the RailRiders tied it up in the bottom of the third.
Jake Cave singled center and Judge followed with a double off the wall in left. Cave raced around the bases and easily scored standing.
Toledo
would plate their decisive runs in the fifth. With two out, Haynes
issued consecutive walks to Gose and Casey McGehee. Tyler Collins and
Miguel Gonzalez stroked
back-to-back singles for a 4-2 advantage.
Pete Kozma
scored on a double play grounder in the eighth, but the Hens retired the final four batters to seal the win.
Mark Teixeira
finished 0-for-4 and concluded his rehab stint with the RailRiders 1-for-9 with a sacrifice fly and a RBI.
The RailRiders begin a 10-game homestand with the first of three at Pawtucket on Friday, June 24. Right-hander
Luis Severino (3-0, 2.52) will start against left-hander
