Syracuse Mets to Host Two Education Days at NBT Bank Stadium in 2019

Tickets are still available for Education Day #1 on 4/24, Education Day #2 on 6/5 is sold out

The Syracuse Mets are excited to host the first of two Education Day games this season on Wednesday, April 24th at 10:35 a.m. against the Buffalo Bisons. While tickets for the Mets' second Education Day on June 5th are sold out, tickets are still available for the 24th. 

Education Day has been a huge success in year's past as a chance for students to enjoy a ballgame combined with an education component with their classmates and teachers. 

Tickets are $3 for teachers & their classes, with the first 4,000 kids 12 and under receiving a cinch bag giveaway sponsored by NYS 529. In addition, a lunch option, including a kid’s hot dog, bag of chips and a bottle of water is available for purchase for an additional $4 per student. Classes are also welcome to bring their own lunches on Education Day. All tickets for schools and lunches must be purchased in advance of the game.

In addition, Education Day will once again have an education component this year. Students who attend the game will be able to use their cell phones to participate in a game. Using an app called Metaverse and QR codes around the stadium, students can play a game that includes subject-based questions that combine baseball with traditional school subjects.

The game, created prior to last season's Education Day by Phoenix City School District teacher John Dalgety, uses the cell phone camera through the Metaverse app to overlay objects, scenery, characters, and animations onto the physical world, allowing students and teachers to interact with those objects through an augmented reality experience. Dalgety created this game experience through Metaverse specifically for Education Day at NBT Bank Stadium, so students will get the full fan experience. In the game, avatars will appear that ask questions and assigns tasks.

Gates will open at 9:30 a.m. with first pitch against Buffalo slated for 10:35 a.m.
