PREVIEW: The Rumble Ponies wrap up their four-game series with the Sea Dogs with a Sunday matinee at NYSEG Stadium.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: LHP David Peterson takes the mound for his fourth start of the season. The southpaw struck out a season-high eight and earned his first career Double-A win in his last start against Akron on April 23.

EIGHT IS GREAT: In the last six games, four different Binghamton starters have recorded eight strikeouts or more. Anthony Kay started the trend with a 10-strikeout performance against the RubberDucks on April 22. Sunday’s starter David Peterson fanned eight Ducks the next day.

RACKING UP THE K’S: Binghamton pitchers have collected 56 strikeouts in the last six games, a stretch covering 48.0 innings. The Rumble Ponies have compiled a 10.5 K/9 IP rate during the clip. Binghamton has posted a 9.6 K/9 IP rate this season, on pace for a franchise record. The Rumble Ponies rank third in the league with 153 total strikeouts.

SOMETHING ABOUT LATE APRIL: Binghamton has suffered three shutout losses in their last four games. It is the first time since April 2006 that Binghamton has dropped three games by shutout in a four-game span. That year, the B-Mets lost back-to-back shutouts to Akron on April 25 & 26 before falling 1-0 to Erie on April 29.

BACK UP THE LEADER BOARD: Binghamton pitchers allowed earned run over 14 innings in Saturday’s doubleheader. The strong performance lowered Binghamton’s staff ERA to 2.86, vaulting them to second in the Eastern League.

A LITTLE COLD HERE: The starting temperature of 38 degrees for Saturday’s doubleheader was the lowest starting temperature for the Rumble Ponies this season. Binghamton has had four games open with temperatures below 45 degrees. In 2018, the Ponies played in ten games which started below 45 degrees.

HAGGERTY ROLLING: Sam Haggerty has hit in the leadoff position 16 times in Binghamton’s first 17 games. He leads the team with 19 hits and seven multiple-hit games, and has logged time at five different defensive positions. Haggerty is tied for second in the league with five stolen bases.

ALL GOOD THINGS MUST END: Ali Sanchez went 0-for-2 in the opener on Saturday and had his team-best eight-game hitting streak snapped. Sanchez had registered a hit in every game he appeared in from April 6 through April 24. Binghamton’s longest hitting streak last year was a 17-gamer by Jeff McNeil.

COMING UP: The Rumble Ponies continue their second home stand of the season by welcoming in the Akron RubberDucks. Binghamton opens the three-game series on Monday at 6:35 PM.
