PONIES SWEEP PHILS 5-2

Five-Run Eighth Earns Binghamton a Sweep
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Rumble Ponies rallied for five runs in the bottom of the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon at NYSEG Stadium, edging the Fightin Phils, 5-2. Binghamton collects their third sweep of the season, concluding their regular season series with Reading at three games apiece. The Ponies have garnered four straight wins and five of the last six.
Binghamton utilized an inning with three or more runs for the fourth straight game, plating all five of their runs in the eighth on Sunday. With Reading ahead 2-0 and Kyle Dohy on the mound, the Ponies got back-to-back walks to kickstart the rally. After a one-out walk to Patrick Biondi loaded the bases, Andres Gimenez stepped in with just one out. His groundout to first, scored Kevin Taylor from third to make it a 2-1 game. Joey Terdoslavich followed Gimenez with a single into centerfield, bringing around J.J. Franco and Biondi. Will Toffey capped the rally and ended Dohy’s night by blasting one over the right field fence for a two-run blast.
David Roseboom tossed a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the season, giving the Ponies a 5-2 victory.
The Binghamton bats were stifled until the eighth inning, garnering just three hits prior to the five-run inning. Connor Seabold hurled the first six innings without allowing a run or a walk – he struck out nine.
Seabold was in line for the win most of the afternoon after getting two fourth-inning runs from the Fightin Phils offense. Adam Haseley launched a leadoff home run, his second of the series, before Austin Bossart’s two-out single pushed Derek Hall in from second. Reading led 2-0 until the five-run eighth.
Kevin McGowan picked up three 1-2-3 innings over his five frames. He struck out six Fightin Phils and issued two free passes in his fourth Eastern League start of the season.
Joe Zanghi and Matt Blackham preserved the 2-0 deficit by combining to toss three shutout innings out of the bullpen.
