ELECTRIC CARS & LED LIGHTS AT DUTCHESS FAIR

Electric Cars, LED Lights to be Featured at Dutchess County Fair

Interested in reducing your carbon footprint or in learning more about the benefits of electric cars? Then be sure to visit Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corporation’s booths at this year’s Dutchess County Fair, taking place August 21 through 26 in Rhinebeck.
“We’ll be showcasing exciting developments in energy this year at the fair,” said Denise D. VanBuren, Vice President of Public Relations with Central Hudson. “We always look forward to this annual opportunity to meet with our customers, share highlights of Central Hudson’s new initiatives and help answer questions.
“We’ve been proud to be a part of this community event since the 1920s,” VanBuren noted, adding that there’s never been a more exciting time to be a part of the energy industry.
As just one highlight, the new all-electric Chevy Bolt will be featured at Central Hudson’s booth. The vehicle, which travels up to 240 miles before needing a recharge, is less costly and cleaner to operate than cars powered by gasoline. Central Hudson also offers home electric vehicle charging stations, which will be on display as well.
Customers can also learn ways to interact with Central Hudson online and how to take advantage of energy efficiency programs, incentives and measures offered to help them save on their energy bills. Home profile quizzes and personalized energy challenges, for examples, are the newest features of CenHub, Central Hudson’s online informational portal for customers.  Customers will also be able to sign up for the Carbon Reduction Sweepstakes for a chance to win a free home energy audit and energy-efficient upgrades.
This year, Central Hudson will also feature a second booth location – a CenHub Store Pop-Up Shop – featuring high-efficiency LEDs bulbs for $1 each, sold in 10-packs and bundled with a free desk lamp; and advanced power strips for only $10 each, a $40 value.
Central Hudson is also once again proud to partner with the Dutchess County Fairgrounds through its eighth annual sponsorship in support of recycling at the fair.
“Central Hudson and the Dutchess County Agricultural Society are committed to the environment and our beautiful Hudson River Valley, and so we’re exceptionally pleased to support the fair’s recycling efforts,” said VanBuren. Recycling bins will be placed throughout the fairgrounds, and visitors are encouraged to recycle their water and other beverage bottles. Recycling was originally established by the fairgrounds in the 1990s.
