TRI-VALLEY WINS MONTICELLO INVITATIONAL

MONGAUP VALLEY--The bats came alive and a stellar pitching performance by Tri-Valley's Kacie Allison propelled the Lady Bears to a 10-0 tournament championship win Saturday over the Eldred Yellowjackets at Collins Park in Mongaup Valley.
Tri-Valley got into the Monticello Invitational championship game by defeating Liberty 4-1 while  Eldred defeated Monticello 6-3.
Eldred and Tri-Valley scrapped through two and a half scoreless innings before the Bears scored one run in the top of the third on a home run by Angie Ditoro that got by Eldred's left fielder Sheila Burns.
The 1-0 Bears lead was threatened several times by the Yellowjackets who had bases loaded in the top of the fifth with one out but a pop up and a ground ball to Allison ended that threat.
The Bears broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth scoring six runs off a single by Ashley Johnson, a walk to DiToro, a single by Mikayla Clearwater scoring two runs, Katie Jester hit by a pitch, a hit to center scoring two runs by Allison and  a hit to right by Danielle Shafarsky scoring two runs.
Eldred replaced starting pitcher Jordan Lepes in the bottom of the sixth with Alaina Gaughan and the Bears greeted her with three more runs off a walk to Brianna Mandes, another walk to DiToro, a triple by Clearwater and Clearwater stealing home.
The two tournament wins by Tri-Valley boosted their overall record to 4-7 and 1-6 in OCIAA play.
Eldred record with the one win and one loss in this tournament is 5-7 overall and 3-0 in OCIAA play.
  Allison recorded six strike outs.
Eldred coach Ryan Jasper in noting the bases loaded opportunity his team missed out on  said, "when you get opportunities you have to take advantange of them." In regard to Allison's pitching Jaster said "she did a great job and has been doing so since she was in the seventh grade."
Jasper while noting the Eldred  errors said, " they are just part of the game and you just have to work to overcome them."
Winning coach Claire Moore commented that the win "was impressive and the bats came alive and we hit the ball where we needed to and when we needed to do it."
Coach Moore added, "we were aggressive, disciplined at the plate, made the plays when we had to and all of Casey's  pitches were working today.
In the first game of the tournament Eldred outscored host Monticello 6-3 and recorded a homerun by Sami Clemmons with the win going to Jordan Lepes.
Tri-Valley won the second game over Liberty 4-1 with winning pitcher Kacie Allison recording eight strikeouts. Runs were scored by Katie Jester, Ashton Krummack and and Ashley Johnson.
