HERE & THERE COLUMN

   What's Ahead For 2015

Believe me....time goes by much faster as one ages but the more important question facing all of us for the approaching New Year is what can we look forward to.
The biggest building project Sullivan County has ever seen gets underway for the new Empire Resorts Montreign Resort Casino at Adelaar to be constructed on former lands owned by the Concord Hotel.
This project is designed to drive tourism back to the Catskills while others are calling it  the re-birth of Sullivan County.
This large venture when completed should bring much needed economic  improvement to our county, providing needed employment for many and should become a drawing card for new business ventures throughout the county.
  Hopefully everyone will benefit.
Leadership must be provided for our country to overcome the now wide division in race relations that have been created by events in New York  City and Ferguson, Mo.
The assassination of two New York Police Officers does not solve the issue. The aftermaths of  the Grand Jury verdict in Ferguson have been perpetuated by agenda driven opportunists and we all must strive to advance the fact that Justice is not one race scoring points over another.
The decline in oil prices is also something to look at in 2015. A year ago who would have predicted a collapse in oil prices. Whatever happens with this unpredictable industry will shape the year ahead in global energy.
Look for advances in nuclear technologies and wind and solar generation.
In politics, Republicans take the reins of the U.S. Congress......let's hope the gridlock between Congress and the President ends and all work together for the benefit of everyone.
Have a healthy, prosperous  and success driven New Year.
