BOWLING HIGHLIGHTS

Agapito Making His Mark

Nineteen year-old Monticello bowler Pedro Agapito III is moving up in the ranks as one of the top male bowlers in the tri-county area.
He maintains a high 235-240 average in the Monday Men's, Tuesday Mixed Firefighters and Wednesday Men's league at Kiamesha Lanes.
During the month of December he bowled two 300 games and added an 800 plus series.
On December 2 in the Tuesday Mixed Firefighters league he bowled a 300 and a 233 for a 697 series.
  On December 22 in the Monday Men's league he recorded a 226, 280, 300, 806.
The December 2 pefect game was bowled on lanes 3 and 4 and December 22 on lanes 11 and 12 using his Storm Optimus bowling ball.
His Tuesday team is Paesanos Pizza with team mates Brian Devine, George Dye and Wendy Swan. On Monday night his team is Josh's Pro Shop with team mates Josh Strang, Jason Jones Sr. and James VanAken.
Pedro now has a combined total of seven career 300's and six 800 plus series. His 800 series consist of a 800, 802, 806, 836 and another 836.
Agapito noted that all the strikes for the two 300 games were in the pocket.
Bowling for some 10 years Pedro started his bowling career in the Saturday Morning Youth leagues at Kiamesha Lanes.
In 2014 Pedro recorded four 300 games and five 800 plus series.
Pedro is definitely a bowler to watch out for in 2015.

Ed's Outlook

Many bowling fans and league bowlers remember the days when the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) gave fans a chance to not only watch the sport's best players compete but were given the opportunity to bowl alongside them in pro-am tournaments.
This all came to a stop when the PBA decided to hold many of its events in one location and no longer put the tour on the road each week in different bowling establishments.
The contraction of the present PBA schedule now all but eliminates those pro-am tournaments.
But there is hope on the horizon with the revival of the Professional Women's Bowling Association which will debut next summer in nine tournament locations. Many on the East Coast are hoping that some of these tournaments will come to bowling centers near them.
The Professional Women's Bowling Association took applications up to December 1 and locations of these tournaments are expected to be announced soon.
Hopefully a center in New York State will snag at least one of the events.

 D.J. Archer Wins
 First Title

  D. J. Archer won the 2014 World Series Of Bowling (WSOB) Chameleon Championship last Sunday on ESPN defeating Ronnie Russell 241-215.
The win stole the spotlight from Ronnie Russell who bowled the first nationally televised game in the new Las Vegas $35 million South Point Bowling Plaza a game earlier.
It was Archer's first PBA title.
The fourth PBA WSOB airs on ESPN Sunday in the Scorpion Championship. Bowlers in this event include top qualifier Michael Haugen Jr., Scott Newell, Martin Larsen and Tom Hess.

Bowllng Tip
By Mike Luongo

There are many high performance and aggressive bowling balls available today but the main component of the sport is having a sharp game and becoming a good shot maker.
The sport today offers the Sport Bowling leagues and knowing how to adjust to varying lane conditions and understanding how to use today's bowling balls is only part of the equation.
I recommend for those who want to maximize their potential to find a qualified and certified bowling instructor who uses a Pro Trainer System.
This system gives your instructor the ability to replay a student's shots in slow motion and shows the adjustments that need to be made.
The knowledge you gain from a Certified Instructor will prove to be useful to you and will stay with you throughout your bowling life.
