                                                          Troy Morris

The Donald Durland 300 express is rolling in high gear at Kiamesha Lanes (KL) as the 25-year-old Wurtsboro bowler recorded his 17th and 18th perfect games during a one week span in the month of December.
Adding to the KL 300 spotlight was a perfect game bowled December 21 by 40-year-old Woodbourne bowler Troy C. Morris in the Saturday Mixed league.
Durland during the last game bowled on December 16 recorded his 17th 300 and within a weeks time span bagged out his 18th 300 during the first game on December 23, both at KL in the same Monday Night Men's league.
Donald on December 16 scored a 778 series off single games of 245, 233, 300.
On December 23 he recorded a 725 series off single games of 300, 214, 211 on lanes 3 & 4 using an IG Tour Solid bowling ball.
In the Monday Men's league he bowls under the sponsorship of the Monticello Greenhouse with team mates Joe Fallon, his father Paul Durland and Vinnie Collura.
Durland bowls in two other leagues including the Wednesday Men's league at the Hoe Bowl Lanes in Walden and switches to bowling left handed in the Thursday Men's league at Tarsio Lanes in Newburgh.
His current league average in the KL Monday league is 236.
Donald had the honor of starting the KL 300 bowling club off to a fast start on the opening night and the first game of the Monday Men's league September 9 with his his 16th career perfect game. In the December 23 300 game he noted all 12 strikes were in the pocket.
During the 2012-13 season Donald maintained a 220 plus average both in Kingston and Newburgh. His 15th career 300 was recorded January 7, 2013 in the Monday Men's league at Kiamesha Lanes.
Over the past several years he has shown steady league growth and at one point in time competed in the Professional Bowl Tour regional tournaments.
Considered by bowling experts to be one of the premier men bowlers in the Tri-State area, Donald recorded his first-ever 300 game during the 2005-06 season as a youth bowler in the Saturday Morning Youth leagues at Kiamesha Lanes.
Donald's mother Debbie is one of the premier women bowlers in the Tri-County area and his father Paul and younger brother James maintain the high Durland family bowling standards.
Bowling since the age of 5, Durland is single and is employed by the Monticello Greenhouse.
Troy Morris recorded his 300 game on lanes 13 & 14 using a RotoGrip bowling ball.
Morris bowl for the Hell Raisers team with team members Michelle Morris, George VanAken and Jim VanAken.
The Saturday Mixed league is the only league Troy bowls in and presently maintains a 193 average.
He has been bowling for some 16 years and noted "all strikes were in the pocket."
This is Troy's first career 300. He has no 800 series.
Married with no children he is employed by CES.

 The Bowling Tip
 By Mike Luongo

How to best use the dots and arrows on the approach is this week's tip and hopefully this will assist you on how to best use the dots and arrows as target aids.
When preparing to execute a bowling shot, whether it is a strike or spare, you must be prepared to understand the path down the lane you intend your bowling ball to take.
With this in mind, when stepping on the approach you should have a focal point, simply the point from which the ball will roll off your hand in the direction you intend it to go, picked out.
If you throw a hook ball, you will be rolling the ball toward the intended break point.....the spot on the lane you expect your ball to change direction. If you are rolling a straight ball....the pocket or pin/pins will be your intended target.
The tip: Look at the intended target and bring your eyes  back to the spot on the lane that you are most comfortable looking at.....whether it be the dots or an arrow.
To play the modern game, the sooner the ball comes off your hand the better. If you are looking at an arrow and tend to throw or hit up on the ball instead of rolling it off your hand, bring your eyes more toward the dots.
If you are a bowler that tends to play more across the boards with a lot of rotation, your focal point should be as far right (or left if you are left handed) as in between the lanes to get the ball to the correct break point.
If you play a straighter game with a small hook, your focal point may be toward the 3-pin if bowling right handed.
Remember, there is no substitute for making a good shot. If you combine good shots with good thinking, your scores will increase.
