Here & There Column 10-30-12

Debates Are Over--Now Vote

Hope you folks found the Presidential debates interesting and informative enough for you to make the right choice November 6.
I don't know who makes the decisions on selection of the moderators for these events but none of them displayed enough intelligence to ask penetrating questions, getting to the core of what is happening here in America today and having the candidates answer difficult questions.
We go to the polls November 6 while facing creeping government expansion, massive public debt, too many job destroying regulations, too much government dependency and reckless federal spending that is killing America's spending.
Debate the facts and if you can't face the music then look stupid and avoid the attack zingers that were prevalent in all of the debates.
The major topic we should be able to take out of these debates is who has a better plan for the next 4 years and who is the President Americans can trust as commander in chief?
Simple questioning of folks during the past several weeks found these major issues of concern:
  1. The present administration's attempt to deceive the public about what happened in Benghazi, Libya.
  2. The present administrations pledge to cut the deficit in half and what followed was the first trillion dollar deficit ever, followed by trillion dollar deficits in every year of this administration.
  3. The pledge  to have a transparent government that would post legislaltive proposals on the Internet several days before Congress was to vote on them and what followed was an ObamaCare bill so huge and passed so fast that even members of Congress did not have time to read it.
  4. The need for candidates to offer specifics on the economic problems and how they would accomplish cuts in unemployment and create new jobs.
  5. Folks are not interested in scare tactics and they are seeing clearly the extraordinary emptiness in one of the campaigns.
The political process itself turns many people off but it is clear from folks who have had conversations with us that they demand common-sense values, limited government, lower taxes and fiscal responsibility.
It's now up to you and it's your responsibility to vote on November 6.
