BOWLING HIGHLGHTS

Agapito Scores Season 1st 300

Nineteen-year-old Monticello bowler Pedro Agapito III recorded the first Sullivan County  300 game for the 2014-15 season on September 8 in the Kiamesha Lanes Monday Men's league.
The perfect game was bowled on the league's opening night in the second game of the three game match using a Storm Hyroad Pearl on lanes three and four.
This is Pedro's fifth 300 with his last one coming on October 2 of last year and his fourth career 800 series.
  His scores on September 8 included 256, 300, 246, 802.
Agapito bowls on Josh's Pro Shop team with team mates Josh Strang, Jason Jones Sr. and Jim Van Aken.
He also bowls in the Tuesday Mixed Firefighters league and  the Wednesday Men's league, all at Kiamesha Lanes and averages 236 and 226.
Bowling for 10 years Pedro noted that all the 12 strikes were in the pocket
Pedro is single and is employed as a driver.

Players Championship
Goes To Milwaukee

AMF Bowlero Lanes in suburban Wauwatosa (Milwaukee) will host the world's best bowlers January 26-30 offering $250,000 in prize money at two Professional Bowlers Association championship (PBA) events, the PBA Players Championship and the Mark Roth/Marshall Holman PBA Doubles Championship.
The PBA Players Championship finals will air on ESPN on Sunday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m.
The PBA returns to an old-school format for the Roth/Holman PBA Doubles Championship, which is named in honor of two PBA legends who also bowled together as one of the sport's most successful doubles teams.
PBA members will be allowed to form their own doubles teams and they will use their combined 12-game qualifying totals to determine the 12 teams advancing to the match play finals.
All competition rounds of the Milwaukee events will be covered live by PBA's Xtra Frame online bowling channel.

Ed's Outlook

Once again the Professional Bowling Association (PBA) has stripped the East Coast and particularly the Northeast of any regular tour PBA events for the 2014-15 season.
Previously the U.S. Open and then the USBC Masters Finals was held at the Brunswick Carolier Lanes in North Brunswick, New Jersey and now for this bowling year the Masters Finals has been shipped off to Green Bay, Wis.
The Northeast for many years prior to the revamping of the PBA schedule held tour stops in Latham and Albany NY, Cheektawaga near Buffalo, on Long Island, Norwich, Conn. and North Brunswick.
This has not helped fan support for the PBA as these previous tour stops gave fans that close-up contact with PBA bowlers and the opportunity to feel they were an important part of professional bowling.
In all fairness the PBA did say that the Masters Tournament will return to North Brunswick in 2016.
We feel the PBA could at least bring some of their Regional or PBA50 tournaments to  New York and the Northeast.
The first ESPN-PBA televised match will be the GEICO PBA Cheetah Championship on December 14 at 1 p.m.

Bowling Tip
By Mike Luongo

Learning the five fundamentals of a good bowling shot.
So very often we forget the most basic steps that are designed to help us have fun and score a good game.
These steps include getting ready in the stance position by taking a deep breath, bringing in air into our nose and exhaling through your mouth .
The next step is getting lined up, before the start of your match practice a couple of shots to see what the lane conditions are and even take a look at other bowlers and see what they are doing. You should watch your ball reaction and don't force your ball to curve.
  Equipment selection is important here.
Want good balance then make sure your first step is a short one....this adds greatly to ending  up with good balance when you release your ball.
Keeping a loose swing is also important, stay away from using too much muscle. When you are ready to bowl make sure your hand and arm are relaxed before you start your approach.
As you start the ball moving in your approach, make sure that the ball moves in a straight line toward the target on the lane. This will prevent your swing from going off line. Let the rest of your swing be relaxed.
