Ed's Outlook
The 2013-2014 league bowling season is over for most leagues. This will be our wrap-up column until leagues get underway in September.
Hopefully we will be able to bring weekly results from the nine week Sport Shot League that started last week at Kiamesha Lanes.
League organizer Charles Tuttle noted via facebook that "we only got 10 guys so we have five two-man teams."
When Charlie announced the formation of this league we had hoped to see most of the high average regular league bowlers give it a shot and for them to see what it's like to bowl on Professional Bowlers Association patterns and not easy house shots.
Charlie said the first week of play found scores ranging from 130 to 244 with Keith Smith recording the 244.
It should prove to be interesting what scores and averages are obtained in this new Sport League.
Our congratulations go out to all league champions and the high individual average leaders and also our thanks to all the league secretaries and bowling establishments for the weekly scores....see you in the fall.

Bowling Tip
By Mike Luongo
Know where you are on the approach at all times for your strike ball and your spare ball.
Just like coordinates on a map, locations relate to your body build and to the path of your ball.
You cannot just stand in an arbitrary place and roll your ball toward an arbitrary target without it interfering with the quality of your delivery.
For any given shot, put your body in a position which ensures accuracy and consistency in the path of your ball.
You accomplish this by understanding approach coordinates which involve two dimension....how far away from the foul line and how far left or right.
Distance from the foul line is a critical factor and determines how well your footwork fits your swing.
Left to right determines your alignment for strikes and spares. Walk alongside your swing...never toward it and never away from it.
Use the dots and arrows to choose what path you want your ball to follow.
Push your ball toward your target and walk toward your target.
