METS INVITE FOUR TEAMS TO BE THEIR AFFILIATES FLUSHING, N.Y., December 9, 2020 – The New York Mets today announced that they have invited the Syracuse Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Brooklyn Cyclones and the St. Lucie Mets to become the organization’s four minor league affiliates under Major League Baseball’s new player development structure set to begin in 2021. Three of the four teams invited to become affiliates are in New York (Syracuse, Binghamton and Brooklyn) and the fourth is the site of the Mets Spring Training home (Port St. Lucie, FL). “We feel having a first-class player development system is crucial to achieving sustained success on the field, and all four of our affiliates are critical to that effort,” said Mets President Sandy Alderson. “We are proud to have worked with such great leadership throughout the state and in each of these communities and are thankful for their continued support.” Syracuse, which became a Mets affiliate in 2019, has been invited to serve as its Triple-A affiliate. Syracuse was also a Mets affiliate in 1962 and Mets Hall of Famer Ed Kranepool played for the team as a 17-year-old. Binghamton has been invited to continue as the Double-A affiliate and has been a Mets affiliate since 1992. Edgardo Alfonzo, Pete Alonso, Michael Conforto, Jacob deGrom, José Reyes, Noah Syndergaard and David Wright are among numerous players to have played minor league baseball in Binghamton. Brooklyn is invited to become the team’s High-A affiliate after serving as a short-season affiliate since 2001. The Cyclones have shattered numerous short-season attendance records and the ballpark is located less than 100 yards from the famous Coney Island boardwalk. St. Lucie has been invited to serve as the club’s Low-A affiliate. Last of the three tied leaders was five-time LPGA Tour winner Korda, who saw more up and downs on the front nine followed by seven pars on the back. “I'm excited that I played really solid today and that it was a little bit warmer today than yesterday,” said Nordqvist, who co-leads after 36-holes for the second time in 2020. “There was a lot of tough pin placements out there and I felt like they did a really good job of putting them on top of crests and stuff like that. I feel like we managed the game good and I'm very happy.” “I think I made four in a row on making the turn too,” said Noh of her birdie opportunities. “So, let's see, it was 8, 9, 10, 11, and then I made a good par save on the front nine. On number 4 I hit in the fairway bunker, had to lay up and hit a wedge close in, saved par, so I didn't mess up my streak, but it was good. I hit it close today, I hit a lot close and made the putts, so that was nice.” “Just get really good at six footers. It was tough. Front nine pins, they were pretty gettable. Back nine pins, it was just defense all day. It didn't matter where I put myself. Honestly, I was trying to attack it at different angles. I'm happy with my ball striking. I don't know what else I could have done, I really don't,” said Korda. American Lindsey Weaver sits in solo fourth at -3 after a second-round 68. ANNA NORDQVIST MAY BE FROM SWEDEN, BUT “THERE’S A REASON” WHY SHE MOVED TO ARIZONA Making her first LPGA appearance since the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in early October, Anna Nordqvist finds herself tied for first at -4, well-rested from traveling back home and taking some time off. “I felt like I needed a little bit of a break. Went back to Sweden for a while after KPMG just to see my family, and I'm so glad I did because all the timing of it with all the COVID spread keep increasing over there, so I'm glad I got to see everyone. I hadn't seen them since Christmas and I don't know when I'm going to see them next,” said Nordqvist. Though she rested, she also competed on the Ladies European Tour, making a pit stop in Saudi Arabia for the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by PIF and the The Saudi Ladies Team International before coming back to the states. “Missed Georgia when I went home and then I went down to Saudi Arabia to play a couple weeks ago and it was such a cool experience. Played in Dubai before and Qatar, but I was very pleasantly surprised. I know they're making a huge push for ladies golf down there, so it was really cool to be part of history,” said Nordqvist. “It was like 95 and blowing quite a bit, but I prefer that over this cold.” Maybe it was growing up in the cold, but the eight-time LPGA Tour champion said she now prefers the heat. “Obviously I grew up playing in cold conditions, me and all the guys at the club, Torshälla, used to play like every Saturday and Sunday. I just haven't done it for so long and I've been in the sun for so long, so I'm not really used to the cold anymore and my body doesn't do very well with it any longer. Just definitely have to try to manage it a little bit better than I have in the last couple years. Obviously live in the sun in Arizona and there's a reason why,” said Nordqvist. NOH BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS AT VOA CLASSIC Yealimi Noh may be a 2020 LPGA Tour rookie, but the 19-year-old is holding her own against the field at the Volunteers of America Classic. Noh, who has only missed one cut in 2020 through 13 events, is tied for the lead among impressive Tour veterans - two-time major champion Anna Nordqvist and five-time Tour winner Jessica Korda. It’s her first time leading/co-leading after 36-holes, but not her first time in contention; in 2019, Noh recorded two top-six finishes including a runner-up performance at the Cambia Portland Classic while a non-member on the LPGA Tour. Her highest finish this year? A tie for third back in Portland this past September. “It's been a while since I've been in the lead, so just thinking back on those times is really helpful and just playing my game out there it's always just sticking to your routine and playing your game. So hopefully it goes well [this weekend],” said Noh, who carded eight birdies over the past two days at Old American Golf Club. “Just being able to play under that pressure and especially play with some really great players. Not being too intimidated and just playing my own game right beside them is really helpful.” Noh said she’s feeling confident in her play as of late and likes how receptive the greens have been of late in The Colony, Texas. She said her main key though is competing against these chillier conditions. “Just staying warm for sure,” said Noh. “Today was really nice but we don't know what's up for the next day and tomorrow so staying warm and getting relaxed and hoping to hit more greens and make some putts.” WEAVER IN CONTENTION CLOSE TO NEW HOME WITH FAMILIAR FACE ON THE BAG IN THE COLONY Lindsey Weaver has fallen in love with the Dallas community. She and her fiancé Zach Wright moved to the area “on a whim” after visiting last year. LPGA HALL OF FAME NEWS Linda Vollstedt, Dr. Debbie Crews, and Kathy Murphy to be Inducted into the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame Three outstanding LPGA Professionals represent the Hall of Fame class of 2020 DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Nov. 6, 2020 – Linda Vollstedt, a member of the LPGA Professionals for over 38 years who served as President and Vice President of the Western Section from 1986-92; Debbie Crews, an LPGA Master Professional and Founder and CEO of Opti Brain; and Kathy Murphy, a Resident Golf Professional at Palm-Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Fla. and Head Professional at The Plantation Golf & CC in Venice, Fla. have been elevated into elite company as 2020 inductees to the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame. Linda Vollstedt Linda Vollstedt first joined the LPGA Professionals as an officer in 1986 when coaches were not really recognized in the organization. Vollstedt fought hard to give recognition to the “coach,” as she believed that coaching was teaching and teaching was coaching. In her early years as an officer on the Executive Committee, Vollstedt pushed for more educational workshops and seminars and assisted LPGA Professionals National President Kerry Graham in developing the Women’s Golf Summits. From the beginning, one of her goals was to increase the membership to 1,000 and with the help of Dana Rader, who served on the Executive Committee with Vollstedt, membership has grown to now almost 1800 members today. Working closely with Kerry Graham, she was instrumental in securing the funds for the LPGA Urban Youth Golf Program, which eventually became the “First Tee” initiative. She was also instrumental in developing the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Program, which has impacted over half a million girls across more than 500 chapters. Vollstedt chaired and served on many committees, hosted the Sectional Seminar, and participated in promoting junior golf. In 1990, she established the ASU Jr Golf Camp for kids aged 10-18, where they would receive instruction, play golf, and learn life lessons. Vollstedt worked closely with Chuck Hogan and Lynn Marriott while she was the Director of Education at Karsten Golf Course. The group dedicated their time to discussing what ideas and materials could be used to influence the performance and well-being of our students. As a result of their work, Marriott went on to be a leader for the LPGA National Education Program. Along with her service to the LPGA, Vollstedt has also been involved with several other organizations promoting golf and sports for women. Being involved with the LPGA allowed her to have a successful career at Arizona State University as the head women’s golf coach from 1980-2001 where she received several prestigious LPGA awards such as the LPGA National Coach of the Year, which she won twice, and LPGA Sectional Coach of the Year. In 2001, she retired from coaching at ASU due to a career ending injury. However, her passion for the game and the love of the sport was still there. She insisted on continuing to give back, coming up with the idea to offer seminars for coaches. Thus, she got involved with “Coaching Fore The Soul”, which allowed her to continue to sharing her wisdom with others. On a national platform, both LPGA and non-LPGA members attended. In 2007, she was asked, along with Kathy Murphy and Debbie Crews, to write the curriculum for the LPGA Professionals National Education Coaching Program. Vollstedt is already a member of 9 Halls of Fame: International Women’s Sports Foundation (WSF); National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA); Arizona Sports HOF; Sun Devil Athletics HOF; Arizona Golf Association; Arizona State University Hall of Honor; Portland Interscholastic League (PIL); Phoenix Union High School (PUHS); and most recently the Pac-12 Conference Hall of Honor – becoming the first female coach to be inducted. Thanks to her lifetime of dedication and service to the game, she can now add LPGA Hall of Famer to the list. “I am truly honored to be selected into the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame and to be included in the elite company of those who have come before me and who have been such incredible role models. During my years of service, I have watched the LPGA continue to grow and offer not only education, but professional growth to women in the organization. My entire life has been dedicated to mentoring, teaching and coaching. I am full of gratitude and joy as I continue to mentor young women who are looking for success and fulfillment in their profession. I am forever grateful to the LPGA for shaping my career and allowing me to fulfill my destiny,” said Vollstedt. Dr. Debbie Crews Debbie Crews has been involved with the LPGA Education, Evaluation and Research programs since 1997 and with the LPGA Professionals since 1980. In 2011, she earned the distinction of Master Professional. Crews has also served on the National Education and Research Advisory Board since its inception and has been a lead National Education Program (NEP) instructor/evaluator since the late 1990s. She assisted with the development and testing of the National Evaluator testing form for teaching, coaching and managerial leadership and contributed to three revisions of the NEP Manual (1997, 2007, 2013). For more than 35 years, Crews has researched and studied the game of golf, writing for countless scientific journals and popular magazines (Golf Digest, Golf Magazine) and being featured on “Scientific American Frontiers,” NBC Dateline and ESPN. Her research also includes several studies with Mayo Clinic on the “yips” in golf. Most recently, she updated and helped create the online version of the Sport Psychology and Neuroscience sections of the program. LPGA section seminars included five “Horses and Courses” (2008-2011) and three “Research Application” seminars (2009, 2018). Crews received the LPGA Ellen Griffin Rolex Award in 2011, the LPGA Central Section Professional of the Year Award in 2012, and the LPGA Western Section Teacher of the Year Award in 2000. She was named a member of the LPGA Top 50 Teachers List in 2008, 2009, 2017, 2018, and 2019. Crews also chaired the World Scientific Congress of Golf for 10 years, where she initiated the research journal “International Journal of Golf Science”. Debbie has worked with golfers from all the tours as well as up and coming amateurs and professionals. “The LPGA Professionals has been very good to me over my career,” said Crews upon hearing the news of her induction. “They are clearly among the top professional organizations I have collaborated with and learned from. To receive the honor of becoming a member of the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame makes me ecstatic. Entering the Hall of Fame with my two best friends Kathy Murphy and Linda Vollstedt is a dream come true. Thank you for believing in me all these years!” Kathy Murphy Kathy Murphy is an LPGA Master Life Professional whose career includes Resident Golf Professional at Palm-Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Fla. and Head Professional at The Plantation Golf & CC in Venice, Fla. where in 1989, she hosted the LPGA Professionals National Championship. Following her time as a club professional, Murphy dedicated herself to the business of teaching and coaching golf. She has been a teaching professional at the Stratton Mountain Golf School in Vermont, Bonnie View Country Club in Baltimore, Md., the Bumble Bee Hollow Golf Center in Mechanicsburg, Pa. (owned and operated by 2009 Hall of Fame Member Lorraine Klippel) and the ASU Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. (where she worked alongside 2016 Hall of Fame Member Lynn Marriott). During her time in Phoenix, Murphy became instrumental in the development and curriculum of the LPGA Global Education and Certification Programs. As Lead Instructor, she assembled and directed a team of professionals in developing curriculum and materials. She also personally conducted over 100 education and training programs around the country and in South Korea. Murphy served for as Chairperson of the Research/Education Advisory Board for ten years, where she met with teachers, LPGA Evaluators and researchers from within and outside the industry to ensure that the LPGA’s education programs remained relevant to members and contributed to the growth of new golfers. Murphy has contributed to the promotion and growth of junior golf, beginning as a Board Member of the Greater Sarasota Golf Association and then as a contributing writer for the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf program, as well as Phoenix Director of the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Future Stars Program. Murphy served as an officer in the Southeast Section and President of the Northeast Section, as well as presented at numerous LPGA Sectional and National Seminars. She has been recognized for her teaching and leadership skills by Golf Digest, Golf Magazine, Golf for Women Magazine and other various publications including the USGA Journal. “It has been my sincere privilege to participate in the LPGA for more than 40 years – energized by and grateful for the vision of our LPGA Founders, the many dedicated colleagues and enthusiastic students I have met along the way,” said Murphy. “Entering the LPGA Professionals Hall of Fame is the pinnacle of my career and an honor that I will always cherish. PBA West/Northwest Regional Director Gary Mage Announces Retirement Josh Blanchard Named as Successor New York, NY – Gary Mage, who has served as PBA West Regional Director since 2004 and the Northwest Regional Director since he founded it in 1979, has announced his retirement from the PBA after 40+ years of service. Mage’s retirement comes at the end of the 2020 season after a life-long career in the bowling industry and just shy of a milestone 75th birthday, which he’ll celebrate in January. “I’ve been a bowling center owner, pro shop operator and touring player, so I brought a lot of experience to different areas of the sport into this position,” Mage said. “You have people you’ve built relationships with over a span of many years. It’s hard to let go, but it’s time.” In 2004, Mage became Western Region Manager, taking the reins from Mike Friedrichs, and assumed management of the new Northwest Region when it separated from the Western Region in that same year. Mage has since managed both regions with assistance from his wife Toni. Mage will be succeeded by Josh Blanchard, a three-time PBA Tour champion. “After many years serving the PBA as the Northwest and West Regional Director I am very happy that the PBA has chosen Josh Blanchard to take my place, said Mage. “It’s my belief that Josh has the talent to move the regional program forward and build a program that will be successful for many years to come.” Blanchard, who just recently announced his own retirement from full-time PBA Tour competition will take over regional tournament operations on Nov. 9. “It is a privilege to follow in the footsteps of Gary Mage,” said Blanchard. He isn’t easily replaced, but I hope to continue many of the long-standing events he developed over his tenure.” As the new tournament director, Blanchard will be responsible for PBA regional operations in the West and Northwest including developing the schedule of tournaments, pro-ams, and overseeing onsite tournament logistics. “I look forward to working for the bowlers and providing the best events possible for the PBA and its members in the West and Northwest Regions,” added Blanchard. AJ Johnson, Nick Pate, Tom Smallwood, Brad Miller Fill Out PBA Playoffs Round of 16 Johnson and Smallwood cruise, Pate and Miller grind into next round Centreville, Va. – AJ Johnson opened his 2020 PBA Playoffs by rolling the highest score on the right-bracket Round of 24 telecast, defeating Kyle Sherman, 223-166. Johnson took an early lead that only grew as the one-game match went on. “You can never be up by too much,” said Johnson. “There’s a respect level and we’re good friends, but I wanted to beat Sherman and never let up. I kept the pressure on and kept throwing great shots.” Johnson, who is seeking his first PBA Tour title, has spent a fair amount of time bowling on TV lately as his PBA League expansion team, Las Vegas High Rollers, advanced all the way to the Elias Cup Finals before finishing second to the Portland Lumberjacks in late September. “I’m starting to feel a lot more comfortable on TV,” said Johnson, who will face 2019 PBA Playoffs runner-up Bill O’Neill in the next round. “When the lights come on, it’s game time. I’m starting to come into my own, finding what works and letting myself be me.” In another resounding Round of 24 victory, three-time PBA Tour champion Tom Smallwood began his match with the first three strikes and PBA Hall of Famer Chris Barnes couldn’t keep up, falling by a score of 215-180. “Barnes struggled a bit to start and I threw three pretty good shots for a three-bagger, so I had a 30- or 40-pin lead through the fifth frame,” said Smallwood. “I wasn’t trying to coast, but it kind of looked that way. I had a really bad shot for an eight count and then a couple nine counts. But if you wait around for a Hall of Famer, he’s going to catch you.” Barnes was one of three PBA Hall of Famers, along with Tommy Jones and Norm Duke, to qualify for the 2020 PBA Playoffs. All three were eliminated in the opening round. Smallwood draws 13-time PBA Tour champion EJ Tackett in the Round of 16. The key to Nick Pate’s 207-202 victory over Darren Tang may have been the first frame, when Pate converted a 2-4-10 split. “If I get seven and two there,” said Pate, who followed the conversion with two consecutive strikes, “it’s a 279 max instead of 290. That’s 11 pins. I expect to make that split, and I did, and I was able to settle down and throw some good shots.” Tang started the game with the front three, but after opening in the fourth, neither player was able to put a double on the board. Pate came up in the 10th frame needing a mark and count to win. “I threw one and thought I missed it inside, but it just laid there,” said Pate of his strike in the 10th. “After that, I needed good count and got it. I didn’t throw that many good shots, to be completely honest, but it was a clean game.” Pate advances to face Kyle Troup, who has already won three times on the 2020 PBA Tour. The final match of the telecast was decided by eight well-placed strikes by Brad Miller—four in the front of the game and four in the back. In between, Tom Daugherty caught up and passed Miller, when he chopped a three-pin spare attempt in the eighth frame. After Daugherty failed to strike in the ninth, leaving and sparing a single pin, Miller had a chance to clinch the victory. “When I went up in the ninth frame,” said Miller, brushing aside the chopped spare in the eighth, “I told myself there’s no way I’m leaving a 10-pin. I’m going to get after it, be as aggressive as I possibly can, as long as it doesn’t leave a flat-10.” Miller struck in the ninth and on all three shots in the 10th to lock out Daugherty, 215-195, advancing to the Round of 16 against 10-time PBA Tour champion Jesper Svensson. “A couple breaks went my way,” conceded Miller. “I had a trip-four. When you stay aggressive and actually throw it with confidence, good things like that can happen. PBA Jr. National Championship Regional Results 20 youth bowlers, top 4 from each regional qualifier to advance to PBA Jr. National Championship New York, NY – Over 500 of the best youth bowlers, ages seven to 17, from around the country took to the lanes to begin their journey to become the first ever PBA Jr. National Champion. The fierce competition kicked off on September 4th with the regional portion of the inaugural event split into four qualifying tournaments at Bowlero locations across the country. Each regional had the same format – two squads of six-game qualifying rounds followed by two semi-final qualifying games for the top 50 percent of players. After eight qualifying games, the top 20 players advanced to match play for six final games. The long-running Parker Bohn III Scholarship Tournament (PB3) served as an additional qualifier for the East Region. The top two boys and girls in the PB3 event automatically secured a spot in the PBA Jr. National Championship. Museum's Virtual Programming Series Spotlights Moe Berg Moe Berg's baseball career consisted of 15 unremarkable big league seasons. Berg's remarkable life, however, fascinates fans and historians to this day. Berg will be featured in a Virtual Curator Spotlight program at 2 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sept. 2, as part of the Museum’s Safe at Home initiative. The mysterious Berg, who spoke multiple languages and worked for the United States government during some of the most critical times in the country's history, hit .243 over 663 career games with the Dodgers, White Sox, Indians, Senators and Red Sox in the 1920s and 1930s. The Berg Virtual Curator Spotlight is one of several upcoming events on the Hall of Fame’s channels, including (all times Eastern): Virtual Curator Spotlight: Moe Berg Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2 p.m. Morris Berg spent 15 seasons in the big leagues, mostly as a backup catcher with teams struggling to stay out of the American League basement. But Berg’s story remains one of baseball’s most unusual and mysterious tales – and lives on today through books, movies and an exhibit at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum. This Curator Spotlight experience will give our virtual visitors the unique opportunity to learn about the creation process behind our Moe Berg: Big League Spy exhibit, featuring a special interview with a Hall of Fame curator. This program is free, but registration is required. Virtual Ask the Expert: Creating an Exhibit: Part 2 Tuesday, Sept. 8, 3 p.m. This program highlights the National Baseball Hall of Fame's exhibit creation process. This session will pick up at the point of where the curatorial team focuses on identifying stories and artifacts, working with our Exhibits and Design Departments, and then opening the exhibit to the public. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions via the Zoom chat function as time allows. Virtual Field Trip: Roberto Clemente Day Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2 p.m. The Hall of Fame celebrates Roberto Clemente Day by talking to longtime executive Luis Mayoral, who has worked for five decades within the game as a journalist, broadcaster and team official. Mayoral, a close friend of Clemente and the entire Clemente family, was the first person hired by a major league team to serve as a Latin American liaison, helping players from the Caribbean adjust to life in the United States while serving as a team translator. Mayoral will offer his personal memories of Clemente, giving rare insight into Roberto’s personality, determination and sense of humor. This virtual program is free, but registration is required. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions via the zoom chat function as time allows. Courtney Mahon is Teacher of the Year, Kimberly Coleman is Professional of the Year, Maria Lopez is Coach of the Year and Stephanie Peareth is Junior Golf Leader of the Year DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., Aug. 31, 2020 – The LPGA Professionals announced today the following members as winners of the 2020 national awards in acknowledgement of their dedication and achievements: Courtney Mahon, Falcon Ridge Golf Course at Tour Striker Midwest in Lenexa, Kansas, Teacher of the Year; Kimberly Coleman, Vista Valley Country Club in Vista, California, Professional of the Year; Maria Lopez, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida, Coach of the Year; and Stephanie Peareth, Melreese International Links in Miami, Florida, Junior Golf Leader of the Year. The national award winners were selected by the LPGA Professionals membership’s Executive Committee from the pool of Section Award winners voted on by officers of the six regional sections: Central, International, Midwest, Northeast, Southeast and Western. Teacher of the Year, Courtney Mahon The LPGA established the National Teacher of the Year Award in 1958. The award is given annually to the female golf professional who has demonstrated outstanding accomplishments related to the teaching of golf during the year. An LPGA Professionals Class A member, Courtney Mahon, currently serves full-time in several teaching positions. Mahon has been the Director of Instruction at Tour Striker Midwest Academy since 2017, as well as the Head Women’s Golf Coach for the Olathe Northwest High School. She is an LPGA*USGA Girls Golf Site Director and is also the Director of Tour Striker Midwest Junior Academy, running programs that include PGA Junior League and Nike Junior Golf Camp, among many others. Mahon has served as a captain of multiple PGA Junior League teams since 2017, including four in 2020. Mahon is heavily involved with the LPGA Professionals organization, where she has served as the LPGA Central Section Treasurer and has been a member of the LPGA Professionals Tournament Committee since 2017. She also is the LPGA Professionals National Chair for the New Member Committees. “It is truly an honor to receive this incredible award. It has been a lifelong goal of mine,” said Mahon. “I am thankful to be a part of such a dynamic organization and to learn from some of the most respected instructors in the industry.” In 2018, Golf Digest named Mahon to their Best Young Teachers in America list. From 2012-2017, Mahon was the Lead Instructor for the Tour Striker Golf Academy in Phoenix, Arizona. During that time, she was also the Head Instructor for the Nike Junior Golf Camps at Pebble Beach in the summers of 2013 and 2014. Mahon secured her first teaching position in 2008, where she was the Head Women’s Golf Coach at the University of Missouri in Kansas City until 2009. Mahon has a background rooted in professional golf, where she was a playing member of the Symetra Tour (2007-2012) and the Cactus Tour (2008-2012). She played collegiately at the University of Arkansas (2002-2006), where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and a Minor in Psychology. Professional of the Year, Kimberly Coleman The LPGA Professional of the Year was established in 1980 and is awarded annually to an LPGA Professionals member primarily engaged in a golf operation, golf association or industry position, promoting the game through player development, growth of the game initiatives and other golf-related activities. Kimberly Coleman has been in professional golf for over 18 years and was promoted to Head Golf Professional at Vista Valley Country Club (Vista, California) in 2018. She has worked with the USGA and AJGA in hosting five USGA Qualifiers and four AJGA tournaments since 2016. Having joined Vista Valley in 2010, Kimberly is responsible for tournament operations, merchandising, instruction, junior golf camp coordination, staff management, playing with members, creating special events and daily golf operations. Coleman’s initiatives at Vista Valley have continued to promote and support the LPGA by communicating with both members and non-members through the golf industry. In her time as the Club’s Head Golf Professional, Coleman has increased club revenue by coordinating several successful golf outings, tournaments, and junior programs, including clinics with LPGA Tour player Tiffany Joh. In the past three years, Coleman has served on the LPGA Western Section Tournament Committee (2016-2017), was the LPGA Western Section Treasurer (2017-2018) and was a PGA Section Golf Professional of the Year in 2018. Since 2019, she has been a member of the LPGA National Tournament Committee and currently serves as LPGA Western Section President. “I’m so honored to receive this award and to represent such an outstanding organization. The hundreds of talented and dedicated women of the LPGA continue to inspire and motivate me. I have a quote hanging in my office, ‘The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away,’” said Coleman. “This award is truly a thank you to my family, my friends, my mentors, the LPGA, Callaway and my Vista Valley CC family who have all helped me find my purpose and allow me to share my passion for the game of golf.” Before becoming a dual LPGA Professionals Class A Member and PGA Class A Member, Coleman was a professional player, competing on numerous mini-tours throughout the U.S. and Canada from 2000 to 2010. She made one attempt at qualifying for the LPGA Tour, played in numerous U.S. Women’s Open Qualifiers, and competed in many State Open tournaments throughout the years. In 2006, she was part of a small contingent of U.S. golf professionals who traveled to Xaimen, China to compete in the country’s inaugural “Orient Open.” From 2005-2013, Coleman also owned and operated ProGolfEvents.com, to promote women’s professional golf and provide professionals worldwide access to events throughout the U.S., while also organizing professional tournaments for women golfers in Las Vegas, Phoenix and San Diego to provide additional playing opportunities. Before pursuing golf professionally, Kimberly served as Director of Operations of the National Volleyball League, a women’s professional indoor organization. Coleman graduated from San Diego State University with a B.S. in Business-Marketing in 1992 and was also a member of SDSU’s intercollegiate basketball team. Coach of the Year, Maria Lopez The LPGA Professionals Coach of the Year Award was established in 1980 and is awarded annually to an LPGA Professionals member who is actively engaged in teaching and/or coaching golf at the collegiate or high school level. Maria Lopez enters her 21st season at the helm of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University women's golf program in 2020-21. Lopez pioneered the women’s golf program at ERAU in 2000 and during her tenure, the Embry-Riddle women’s golf team has accrued five regional championships, seven conference titles, and had an incredible run of 14 consecutive NAIA National Championship appearances (2002-15). Remarkably, from 2003-2013, the Eagles strung together 11 straight top-six finishes at the NAIA National Championship, twice finishing as national runner-up and four more times placing third overall. A true teacher of the game, Lopez has seen her Eagles earn 41 All-America honors, and has coached 20 NAIA National Championship All-Tournament team members, 40 All-Sun Conference team members, 23 All-Region honorees and nine Conference/Region Players of the Year. In the classroom, Lopez has overseen 61 Academic All-Conference awardees, 18 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and most recently, the program's first-ever WGCA All-American Scholars (four) in 2019. From 2003-10, Lopez also assumed the head coach position of the men’s golf program, leading them to two National Championship appearances, a conference championship runner-up team finish and 12 top-three finishes. In addition, Lopez’s student-athletes garnered several individual honors, including three individual titles, one All-America honor, one Sun Conference Player of the Year, four All-Sun Conference team members, two All-Region XIV team members, one conference A.O. Duer Award nominee, 13 NAIA Scholar-Athletes and 12 Academic All-Conference recipients. As a head coach at ERAU, Lopez was named Regional/Conference Coach of the Year eight times and was the Sun Conference Coach of Character Award winner in 2010. She was also awarded the 2007 Coach of the Year by the LPGA Professionals, marking the first time a coach from an NAIA institution had been given the award. “Being an LPGA Class A Member and the Women’s Golf Coach at Embry-Riddle has been my life’s calling and a dream come true,” said Lopez. “I am overjoyed to have our program be recognized for its growth and achievement. It is a tremendous privilege and honor that brings great pride to our student-athletes and alumni. We are beyond humbled and grateful.” A three-year letter winner at Alabama, Lopez competed for the Crimson Tide from 1989-92 and graduated in 1993. During her tenure at Tuscaloosa, Lopez won a U.S. Women’s Amateur sectional qualifier, earning her the right to participate in the 1992 U.S. Women’s Amateur. Lopez later turned professional and played on the Futures Tour in 1993, while also competing on the Asian (1994,1997), European and Australian Tours (1994). In 1998, she retired from full-time competition after a long battle with injuries. Lopez returned to competitive golf in 2000 and occasionally competes in various professional events in order to maintain and sharpen her skills as a player and instructor. She also has caddied in numerous LPGA and Symetra Tour events since 1994. Junior Golf Leader of the Year, Stephanie Peareth The LPGA Professionals Junior Golf Leader of the Year Award was established in 2012 and is awarded annually to an LPGA Professionals member who excels in teaching and promoting golf for juniors. Originally from England, Peareth came to the U.S. to play collegiate golf. She started at Pfeiffer University from 2010-2012, transferring in 2012 to Concord University. Peareth was an NCAA Tournament Qualifier during the 2012-13 and 2013-2014 seasons, winning seven times as a CU Mountain Lion. Peareth started on her LPGA Professionals journey in 2015, after brain surgery and an incurable brain condition diagnosis. She underwent two of her three brain surgeries before taking over as the LPGA*USGA Girls Golf of Miami site director in 2015, aborting plans to become a professional player because of her brain condition. The program has grown exponentially in the last five years, from 15 girls to over 200 with over 50 active events per year. In 2016, she was recruited at First Tee of Miami as their girl’s director and became a Level 3 Certified First Tee Coach. Over the past 4 years, she has continued to create and implement many programs for junior golfers with the goal of giving young men and women as many opportunities as possible to pursue their dreams. “It is incredible to win this award and be recognized as a junior leader! 2020 has been a battle and a very tough personal year and to know that I was able to keep focused and dedicated to my work to achieve this makes me proud of myself,” said Peareth. “Junior golf is the future of our industry and to be a small part of this amazing organization helping pave the way and create a positive fun and accessible path for juniors is an award itself! This is a truly incredible honor.” Peareth received the 2019 Sandy LaBauve Spirit Award, the most coveted honor bestowed by LPGA*USGA Girls Golf, for her continued dedication and passion for empowering girls through golf. She has also worked with organizations like the Special Olympics, PGA Junior League, PGA Hope, and Lighthouse for the Blind Junior Series, coaching and teaching clinics as part of her ever-growing community outreach.
