RAILRIDERS WIN 5-3

RailRiders Rally Past Chiefs for Fifth Straight
Nick Swisher Drives in Go-Ahead Run with Double in the Sixth

Moosic, Pa. The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) earned their fifth straight win by coming from two runs down to score a 5-3 triumph over the Syracuse Chiefs on Friday night at PNC Field. SWB improved to 6-2 with the win while the Chiefs slipped to 4-3.
Diego Moreno (2-0) took home the win after holding the Chiefs scoreless for two innings. Conor Mullee retired the final batter to earn his first Triple-A save. Sam Runion (0-1) allowed three runs, one earned, on five hits in two innings of relief.
Matt Skole gave the Chiefs their only lead in the first inning by stroking a two-run double off starter Anthony Swarzak into right-center. Trea Turner and Scott Sizemore both scored on the play.
SWB got a quick response in the home half against Chiefs starter Paolo Espino when Aaron Judge launched a line drive over the right-field fence for his first home run of the season.
Syracuse led 2-1 into the last of the fifth when the RailRiders tied things up. Donovan Solano singled with one away and moved to second after Chris Parmelee drew a walk. Pete Kozma roped a grounder inside the bag at third to plate Solano for the tie.
Swisher put SWB out front to stay in the sixth when he doubled home Judge on a smash to right-center. Solano followed with a single to bring around Swisher for a 4-2 advantage. Rob Refsnyder capped the home team’s scoring in the seventh on a hit to score Ben Gamel from second.
Turner tallied the Chiefs’ final run with a single that brought home Caleb Ramsey before Mullee fanned Brendan Ryan to end the game.
The RailRiders and Chiefs meet an early evening tilt on Saturday at PNC Field. The “Yankees Legends Series” continues with a special appearance by Mickey Rivers. Creed Bratton from The Office will also be on hand to throw out a first pitch. Game time is set for 4:05 p.m. The Chiefs will send right-hander A.J. Cole to the mound.
