RailRiders Add Three to Yankees Legends Series
Joe Pepitone, Jesse Barfield and Charlie Hayes to Appear at PNC FIeld
Moosic, Pa. – The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple A/New York Yankees) are excited to announce three new additions
to the Yankees Legend Series that runs all spring and summer during select home games at PNC Field!
For
2016, the SWB RailRiders created the Yankees Legends Series, which is
comprised of 12 individual visits to PNC Field by former Yankees Legends
and other baseball
greats as part of celebrations culminating in a RailRiders game.
Fans have already been treated to autographs and regaled with stories from
Oscar Gamble and
Mickey Rivers.
Three-time All-Star and Gold Glover
Joe Pepitone is set to appear at PNC Field as part of
“Star Wars Night” on Saturday, May 14, when the RailRiders host the
Indianapolis Indians (Pittsburgh Pirates). SWB will welcome
Jesse Barfield, a two-time All-Star and Gold Glove, winner when they take on the Gwinnett Braves (Atlanta Braves) on Saturday, June 18.
Charlie Hayes, the man who caught the final out in the Yankees’ World Series-clinching victory
in 1996, is scheduled to appear on Sunday, August 7, when the RailRiders face the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington Nationals).
Other
previously announced appearances include July 8, featuring a house call
by World Series champion and Cy Young award winner, The Doctor,
Dwight “Doc” Gooden, who pitched a no-hitter for the Yankees on May 14, 1996.
The June 4
game against the Columbus Clippers will be “Yankees Historic Home
Run Night”, when the RailRiders commemorate two of the most iconic home
runs in Yankees franchise history –
Chris Chambliss’ pennant clinching home run against the Kansas City Royals in 1976 and
Bucky Dent’s game-winning, three-run homer against the Red Sox in 1978.
"I'm honored and beyond grateful that the SWB
Railriders will help us carry on Marianne's vision with their Yankees
Legends Series so that my charity, Legends on the Links/Embraced With
Love,
will be able to continue to provide cancer treatment centers with our
blankets of love and support to help their patients feel more
comfortable during their chemotherapy treatments,” Bucky Dent said. “The
funds raised will also enable us to provide much needed
financial support to dedicated care givers and to identify and focus on
other avenues of support needed by families affected by long-term
illnesses.
A
limited number of 50 “Yankees Legends Series” ticket packages will be
available starting on Opening Day. For $525, fans receive two tickets
with best available seating
for all 12 games, a 30-minute meet and greet with the Legends before
each game and an autographed bat signed by all the Legends once the
series is completed.
