SWB Has Won 13 of 16 at Pawtucket
Pawtucket, R.I. – The SWB RailRiders’ (Triple-A/New York Yankees) ownership of McCoy Stadium continues. For the 13th time in their last 16 games at the home of the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston
Red Sox), the RailRiders claimed victory in enemy territory with a 6-3 series-opening win on Monday night.
SWB (2-2) hit for the team cycle in a pivotal five-run fifth.
Ben Gamel, who finished a home run shy of the cycle, got it going with a triple.
Aaron Judge doubled him home, took third on a wild pitch and scored on a
Slade Heathcott sac fly. Gary Sanchez walked, Donovan Solano notched the third of his three hits and
Cesar Puello later sent all three of them home with a home run to right-center for a 6-0 lead.
In his SWB debut, southpaw starter
Tyler Olson tossed four innings of scoreless, two-hit ball. Reliever Diego Moreno (1-0) notched the win with three shutout frames while Pawtucket (2-3) starter Brian Johnson (0-1) took the loss.
The three-game series continues at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday night. SWB right-hander
Chad Green (0-1, 2.25) will face lefty Roenis Elias.
The
team returns home for an eight-game homestand starting on Thursday,
April 14 with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against the Syracuse Chiefs
(Washington Nationals). The Thirsty Thursday
will feature $1 Bud Lights and Pepsi products. And each Thursday
college students can get a $5 lawn walk-up ticket with their college ID.
