RailRiders Roar Back for First Win
Six-Run Sixth Fuels 7-2 Win, SWB Splits Series
Moosic, Pa.
– The SWB RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) saved their best for
last. In the sixth inning of a seven-inning game, the team batted around
to put a six-spot on the board in a 7-2 defeat
of the Rochester Red Wings (Minnesota Twins) at PNC Field on Friday
night. The victory followed a 3-0 loss in the conclusion of Thursday’s
suspended season opener. Each team stands 1-1 on the young year.
Eddy Rodriguez
broke the seal with a bases-loaded single that drove in a pair of runs
for a 3-2 lead in the fateful sixth. Run-scoring blows from
Jonathan Diaz and Ben Gamel followed later in the frame.
James Pazos (1-0) got the win in relief with a perfect sixth. Rochester starter Pat Dean (0-1) suffered the loss.
The
RailRiders hit the road for their first journey away from PNC Field
this season. Saturday’s scheduled opener has been postponed until April
29 due to frigid temperatures and
biting winds. As a result, the teams will play just one game at
Frontier Field on Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
The
team returns home for an eight-game homestand starting on Thursday,
April 14 with a 6:35 p.m. first pitch against the Syracuse Chiefs
(Washington Nationals). The Thirsty Thursday
will feature $1 Bud Lights and Pepsi products. And each Thursday
college students can get a $5 lawn walk-up ticket with their college ID.
